PiecesinMn 12-26-2010 06:46 AM

I've been going through my stuff trying to get organized (LOL) and I have all this Christmas fabric, panels, etc. Seems if I wait until closer to Christmas it never gets done because of all the other Christmas commitments so . . . I'm thinking of doing a Christmas project/block (not necessarily a gift for anyone, just busting the Christmas fabric) a month and wondering if anyone cares to join in. Falalalala.

mrspete 12-26-2010 06:49 AM

I am totally out of Christmas fabric. I made more dittie bags for troops than I counted. And I had a blast! I need to shop for some this year. It would be fun though.

Happy New Year

CarrieAnne 12-26-2010 06:51 AM

Great idea!

PiecesinMn 12-26-2010 06:53 AM

Should be able to get Christmas fabric on sale now. You go girl. I think this is how I accumulated my Christmas stash.

Sounds good to me.

marymc 12-26-2010 06:55 AM

Great idea! I don't plan ahead and then I find myself thinking it's too much work to use for such a short time. if I made things all year I could give them out at Thanksgiving. I have a ton of fabric from a thrift shop so count me in!!

Melinda in Tulsa 12-26-2010 07:59 AM

I think this is a wonderful idea! Count me in, surely I can do *one* extra something a month. Do you think we could convince Admin to shut down the board one day a month so we can sew?!!!!!

Raggiemom 12-26-2010 08:00 AM

Sounds like a great plan to me! But I'll need to go shopping for more Christas fabric... Good thing my LQS is having an inventory sale Friday!

hsquiltingmom 12-26-2010 08:10 AM

Sounds fun to me. I will need to get some more Christmas fabric though. Maybe I can do that next week.

kateyb 12-26-2010 08:17 AM

Good idea! I have about 6 so I'm in for one every two months

JudyG 12-26-2010 09:01 AM

Sounds good to me. Maybe this way I'll actually get something Christmasy (is that a word??) done. Seems like by the time I get around to doing something it's too late.

thequilterslink 12-26-2010 09:20 AM

Great idea, but i don't have much Christmas fabric, lol, i might be able to find some tho :)

patchsamkim 12-26-2010 09:32 AM

Sounds like a really good idea...that way there isn't the pressure at Christmas time trying to finish up projects at the last minute.

JudyG 12-26-2010 09:33 AM

I do have a question: Will we all be working on the same project each month, or is it a do your own thing each month sort of thing? I can forsee doing it both ways, maybe one month everyone making a tablerunner or some such thing, and then other months working on our own projects. What do others plan?

Surely it doesn't have to be Christmas fabric, per se. I don't have much of that but have lots of reds, greens. My perception of the Christmas Project a month was to make *something* as a Christmas present. Did I misunderstand?

Cyn 12-26-2010 10:30 AM

I'm starting on next year's Christmas tomorrow....

natalieg 12-26-2010 10:37 AM

That's my understanding too! I'm in! I have a bunch of half-finished, ready to be finished Christmas projects....some "Christmasy" fabric, some just Christmas projects! I promised my 5 kids and their "attachments" homemade stockings and tree skirts for 2011! So, I will have enough there without even having to come up with anything else. Oh yeah, and I want to make a tree skirt for myself and stockings for me, my DH and MIL and mom. Geez....I might have to finish twelve things a month!!!

tucsonquilter 12-26-2010 11:08 AM

This sounds like fun and a way to stay motivated. When are we starting?

purplemem 12-26-2010 01:05 PM

I like this plan, also. As we get closer to the holidays I get overwhelmed and then end up doing nothing! I have at least 4 tree skirts ready to sew! I think I'll join this group.

PiecesinMn 12-26-2010 01:24 PM

I was thinking of doing my own thing, but I like your idea of doing the same project some months.

mmonohon 12-26-2010 01:26 PM

I have a ton of Christmas fabric to use. I am in.

winter012 12-26-2010 02:00 PM

I'd like to see something with a tutorial to go with it. That way everyone has the option of learning something new each month...... Does this appeal to anyone?? Other than that, the idea of a once a month project appeals to me.

I agree. As a fairly new quilter I need to stretch.

sonisew 12-26-2010 05:15 PM

Count me in. I need to start early on Christmas gifts. When are we starting?

DottyD 12-27-2010 02:12 AM

I would be interested -- Please let me know what you decide?
Thank you !

marybs 12-27-2010 04:25 AM

Great idea! I want to give it a try! I have an easy table runner pattern that I started, but did not finish. I wonder what happens with copy right info if I wanted to share that information as an idea to work on?

Miss Purple Shoes 12-27-2010 04:31 AM

What a good idea. Count me in.

Sewze 12-27-2010 04:50 AM

Great idea.......I have a couple of unfinished Christmas projects from a few years back and some Christmas fabric. I like both ideas; so, count me in!

Patched 12-27-2010 04:52 AM

Sounds great. Count me in. Will do my own thing, unless someone gives a tute or shows a picture of something I like better. Might not necessarily need to be Christmas fabric items, but also just Christmas gifts, such as purses, hoodie/scarfs, hot-cold bags or other items. Will start after the 1st, I've still got one more Christmas to celebrate.

mcbride4362 12-27-2010 04:56 AM

I would like to join in but I am a beginner. Will there be a tutorial showing us how to do our project??? I would love to learn...What kind of following up for instruction as to when we will start is there?

GloryBee 12-27-2010 05:12 AM

Also would like to do this. Great way to learn and I will love all the teachers.

IBQLTN 12-27-2010 05:29 AM

Sounds like a good idea. Keep me posted!

We had snow flurries on the way to Church yesterday! First time I've seen snow since we left KC in 2005.

Sounds like a good idea. I have Christmas fabric that is
crying out to be used. Count me in. Christmas rolls around quicker than we think.

Good idea! I have 3 grandkids and ONE Charlie Brown christmas quilt done. Need the motivation!

CountryStitching 12-27-2010 05:35 AM

Sounds like fun. I'm in.

sue z q 12-27-2010 05:39 AM

I like this idea!

quiltlin 12-27-2010 05:46 AM

I'd love to get it on this. My problem is that by the time November comes around I've misplaced all of the patterns/ideas I've collected during the year. Well, this year I have put them patters, etc. in a pattern box and just went through them yesterday. And ohmigosh I found the pattern for the round napkins that fold into a Christmas tree and many other things I had been looking for. I'm ready for this whether it be a Christmas project or a Christmas present count me in.

Same here, count me in!! In fact I had said earlier that I have so much Christmas fabric that I was planning to sew only Christmas projects in 2011. We shall see how long that lasts, but maybe with us all trying to do a project a month it's possible after all.

kay45 12-27-2010 06:05 AM

Count me in! I so need to do this. I never seem to get it all done before Xmas. I also have a few ufo's from Xmas's past.

Gail B 12-27-2010 06:15 AM

Sounds like great fun, count me in.
