sistahdebbra 12-29-2010 06:26 PM

Can't wait to start. I gathered all my Christmas fabrics, Christmas UFOs and PIGS and put them in one plastic container and am ready to go

G'ma Kay 12-29-2010 07:34 PM

I agree! Since I joined up here I've been on the computer more than ever! This place is addicting!!!!

Diecy 12-29-2010 08:46 PM

Count me in! Instead of the 12 Days of Christmas, we can call it the 12 Months of Christmas.

OneMoreQuilt 12-29-2010 09:06 PM

I'm in!!! Do we get reminders to prod us along?

nana bev 12-30-2010 08:05 AM

I like that "12 months of Christmas" logo

Diecy 12-30-2010 09:16 AM

I think we ought to adopt that as our logo for Christmas Project A Month for 2011.

What does everyone think about it?

I will be laid up thru January(if they schedule my knee replacement by the middle of January but I would love to join in on the fun. DoughDough

Sounds like a great idea, I copied all these free patterns from various sources, for this Christmas, that didn't get any farther than the pages, and I could sew for several weeks just to use them. Put me in the list, please. piecefully, the old one

sistahdebbra 12-30-2010 10:39 AM

"12 months of Christmas" works for me

I like that.

cjr 12-30-2010 12:08 PM

I want to play too. What is everyone's first project or ufo to finish?

I think everyone is waiting to see how this will work, maybe someone will lead us so we will know what we are working on, if everyone works on their own & shows & tells or work on something together.

And where to post when we do make something!

I began my first project today. I give Christmas lap quilts as wedding presents. Brides change their color schemes, but Christmas always stays the same. The quilt is only used one month( if the couple isn't fond of it). I'm making a OBW with the triangles between as seen in the picture section a few days ago. Normally I make a bargello, but this intrigued me. Hope to send a picture when I finish. I still have to rip it apart as it was too busy for me without the triangles or a border. I'm not sure where this section is going, but I began without you. Thanks for the encouragement to begin early.

ritamae 12-30-2010 06:43 PM

How about this. Make a quilt using your Christmas Fabric. some child at your neighborhood elementary school would be glad to recieve a quilt for Christmas. Ask the principal who is the outstanding student or who is the worst student and make the quilt for that person. since it is a child maybe your would end up with more than one quilt. and you would make some child happy.

nana15 12-30-2010 06:53 PM

I am doing that right now , well kind of. I am taking all my christmas fabric odds and ends and useing them to make pot-holders, oven mitts and hot pads for the table.

golfer 12-30-2010 07:03 PM

That sounds like a nice idea making a quilt for a child especially a child who does not get recognition.

wildquilter63 12-30-2010 07:04 PM

I think thats a great idea. Count me in

ritamae 12-30-2010 07:11 PM

I'm glad you like the idea, We have a whole 12 months, maybe there is more than one chile in your neighborhood school. And you have made a community connection with your school.

PiecesinMn 12-31-2010 06:58 AM

Well, let's get started. My goal is to use up my Christmas fabric stash. I don't care for rules I just want motivation to get projects done. I have created a thread in the picture section entitled "Christmas Project a Month for 2011" to post our pictures. I thought we start on January 1st and on the 24th of every month is the due date. That way we will get through the year, keeping with the age old tradition of finishing at the last moment. If anyone wants to propose a project we can all do, I think that would be great fun and you can decide to participate if you desire or keep on with your own project. Did I forget anything? LMK. Happy New Year to All.

I am SO in for this! I didn't get hardly any of what I wanted done for Christmas gifts this year and hated the stress from worrying about it. Just think....if we do just ONE thing each month....that's 12 gifts/projects done with NO Holiday Rush stress! Be sure and post your pictures here:

I wish a tutorial on the Dresden Christmas tree skirt would be our first project. I am so excited about doing that!!! It was just gorgeous!

A Christmas Quilt for a local school child: What a neat idea -- last winter during a rare cold snap here in the Northwest I took a number of hand knit caps to our local elementary school asking if there might be children who didn't have a cap during that cold weather .... the office personnel were extremely appreciative, commenting they definitely knew there were children who could use them. This would be a several month project for me but think I'll do it as one of the extra projects we all have on the back burner. Thanks.

Diecy 12-31-2010 09:13 AM

I'm ready to sew!

jaciqltznok 12-31-2010 12:09 PM

OH my...I need to do this..I had planned that this year I was going to make 3-4 ornies a month! This will help me get organized!

I love to paper piece on Fundation interfacing, so I can make tiny 2-3": ornaments!

I also have a tree skirt and a couple of wall hangings to do!

quiltingnana1 01-01-2011 12:42 AM

Don't have a lot of Christmas fabric left, but please count me in! Sounds like great fun!

quiltlin 01-01-2011 07:29 AM

I think I'm planning on making some of the round napkins for my SIL. She always has about eight people for dinner so thought I'd start with those. They seem easy enough and should go pretty fast.

I have plenty of Christmas fabrics but probably still need to get more....

PiecesinMn 01-01-2011 09:25 AM

Yes I got that message too. You need to post a picture along with the thread under pictures. I didn't know that. I'll take a picture of my Christmas stash and post that and then people will be able to post pictures on that thread, keeping this thread for messages. Learn something new and it's only the 1st. Woo hoo.

Have you seen pics of ones that had baby rick-rack on the outer edge of the circle? When folded, it looks like garland on the tree. Really makes them gorgeous.

quiltlin 01-01-2011 02:23 PM

No, I haven't seen the ones with ric-rac but may try it. Did buy some fabric today to see how they work.

mmonohon 01-01-2011 02:59 PM

Are we all doing the same project or just working on items that we had planned before Christmas 2010 passed to fast???

jaciqltznok 01-01-2011 04:16 PM

Are we making gifts, or Holiday decor items? If making gifts you do not need Christmas/holiday fabric do you?
I made the tissue boxes for everyday use!
