For those of you already looking at Christmas projects for next year, Walmart has all of the Christmas fabric half price ($2.22 per yard!), bought a piece, and they were mostly quilt shop quality. The holiday fabric they get, is usually last years from the LQS industry. Hope this helps some of you. {HUGS}

I would like to join. Good idea!

I like your idea and I was thinking aling the same line. I have many Christmas projects to do, but never get around to them . I am with you girlfriend

I was so glad to have lots of Christmas fabric in my stash this year. Had extra people for dinner and had to bring in the outdoor chairs. Bit hard and a bit grubby. Gave them a clean, wrapped up 4 blankets in Christmas material and ta da had 4 extra comfy Christmas chairs.
|
that is my plan, I am in
|
As for the round napkins will look at my print out and see if I can post the site. Know that where I saw them the first time...at a quilt store...there was a pattern you could buy but I found a free one online.

This is an excellent idea. It will clear out your stash and you will be ready when the holidays come. The items you don't have people for can be donated to charities to auction off for fund raisers. In my area, these happen in the Fall and people are all about getting stuff for Christmas in the Fall. I made a cheater baby quilt and gave it to the church to raffle off. I couldn't believe how much money they made at $1.00 a ticket! Now I've been asked to make another quilt for a different charity project. |
Will you be posting this in the swap area or will we keep this link right here?

I also think we need to have a show and tell each month like most quilt guilds do. That way we can show our progress and get and give new ideas.
|
Where are you located in St. Louis? I am in Fenton and I see you are from St. Louis as well.
|
I have some Christmas Fabric left. Are you suggesting a trade or swap or what. This sounds good to me. If I may make a suggestion, could itbe geared to the month and does it need to be quilted? For January Kitchen Mitts to keep out the cold, February Valentines, etc. Would love to do this.

I got to Walmart this a.m. and none of the Christmas fabric was marked down. I picked out some other fabric for quilts (my goal not a resolution is not to buy any more fabric in 2011, but use up my stash) and rang the bell. I was fortunate to have the dept. mgr. arrive to wait on me and while she was cutting my fabric I mentioned to her that someone on the QB and said that all the Christmas fabric was down to $2.22yd, was that wrong? She said "no" it was $2.22yd, but they couldn't mark it down, because it hadn't been advertised......so I picked out 6 more fabrics. LOL
Ready for this project a month. Doing the happy dance. |

I am all for it and already have one next year gift started.
Mine will be projects and not so many made with Christmas fabrics. Is that OK? |
yes I'll join you, I have a snowman quilt in the frames I need to do and I have two shelves of Christmas fabric and stopped at Joann's yesterday and bought more, it was 60% off. Going to Hancocks tomorrow HA

I would like to join in too. I am a procrastinator! so am never ready for Christmas. I will need to go to Joanns & Walmart as I have no Christmas fabric! Glad it is SALE time!
|
don't suppose all my projects will be Christmas fabric but made for Christmas gifts and projects, I got to stay focused on this..this forum and good friends will help me keep on my goal
|
I would love to participate. I just started my Christmas stash after Christmas last year and was so disappointed that I didn't even get it out this year. I would love to complete a Christmas project to use next year - although I love Christmas and have been known to leave some things out all year. :-)

I'm in Manchester. Doe s your Walmart have fabric? Our new store does not. |
I'm with JudyG - if I wait until close to Christmas I get nothing done so monthly sounds great to me. Count me in.

I'm in too if I can work on Christmas presents and not use just Christmas fabrics.
|
Love that pattern in your "profile?" what is it called? I see lots of patterns (new to me) in these and think "how hard would that one be?" Thanks, Ruth AKA crafty needle.

Ready for this project a month. Doing the happy dance. rang it up at half price-got several for $1.79 a yd. and a couple that were 2.22 and 2.32 a yd. They aren't marked down, just when they print the ticket out it halves the price. |
I love this idea too. I never seem to start early enough and then I end up frazzled and out of time. I guess someone needs to figure out what our guidelines will be. I kind of liked the idea of us all working on the same thing one month, then our own thing the next. Whatever is decided, I think I'm in!

I'm afraid to go to WalMart, I already have too much fabric both Christmas & others. I'm already working on a project for January (my sis & I do monthly theme stuff) which is a snowman wall hanging. Then for Feb. I'm going to begin a table runner which should have been done for a Christmas gift this year. Since we travel a lot (does anyone go to Arizona for the winter?) it's always a challenge to get projects completed, so will love the inspiration I get from you all. HAPPY NEW YEAR

I think I would enjoy this as well. Can anyone join in? I also do not have Christmas material. But other materials. Don't feel I have funds to go shopping. helping daughter and family $$$$$ . Let me know what everyone wants to make? A quilt? some quilt blocks to make place mats, runners or???? :) I'm not a real seasoned quilter. have fun trying.

gee wiz, I thought I sent a notice, :) I'd like in also
