Great advice!

Absolutely agree. Worked for a Fortune 500 company at one time and all complaints (not that there were that many) were tended to.

I have learned the hard way not to buy FQs from Joann's. They are so thin I won't use them.

This is an interesting subject when compared to a recent post complaining about FQs being $3.00 at the LQS. There's a reason JAs sells FQs for $1.99 - the quality is less and so is the size.

I'm unhappy to say the least....I noticed that my Wal-Mart's fat quarters are also 18x21!
Normal size 18x22... I'm very disappointed with the material that has replaced the "old" normal rolls of fabric.
(our store took evrything out)..
Our store is selling mostly fat quarters and 2 yard pieces.
Most of the 2yd pieces cast $7.49...
I don't like the colors either:(

The only thing that should be standard in a fat quarter is the length. It should be 18". Width will depend on the full width of the fabric. It will be 1/2 whatever the width of the fabric is - be it 39", 40", 41" etc.

I have seen different widths in the same design line of fabric. It just depends on where the particular fabric was printed. If it all was printed in the same plant then the chances are good that the width will be the same. Also even if printed in the same plant, there might be a slight difference based on where the base good came from.

definitely take them back to Joanns.... At least one of the stores here (we have 3 in the area) are customer service oriented.....

From the info provided as to the size of a "fat quarter". it appears that the more important issue is the crookedness of the cut instead of the size that reduces the amount of fabric, and YES, I would either return for a refund and complain (which won't do any good) or take pictures of the crooked cuts and send with a letter of complaint to corporate. Maybe you would get a response. Please keep us updated.

Hi, Mary!
Yes, I'd definitely say something to the manager about them as they weren't sold as advertised. That's bad business practice. Being new at quilting, you have to be careful which way you cut things, don't you?
