That is totally awesome!! I bet your Great Grandmother is doing a little happy dance in heaven!! How blessed you are to have this treasure in your possession!

You have a real treasure. Shortly before my mother died in 1959, she gave me a package of dresden plate quilt blocks (all but 3 were finished) and she said she had started them while she was carrying me in 1934. In the middle 70's I had a friend who said she quilted, so I showed them to her and she said she would finish them for me. She finished them fine, but instead of quilting it, she tied it with yarn, so there are big holes which make it impossible for me to take out and quilt myself. If only I had known I would be a quilter some day. I started in 1989, I could have done it myself. O well! I still treasure the quilt. Another think back then I thought I was doing good by sending it to the cleaners instead of washing it myself - don't do that!!

Quilts are even more special when more than one generation has contributed. What a great family heritage you have continued. Will you put her name and your name on the back?

As Kentucky author Jesse Stuart wrote in his book, "The threads that runs so true...." this quilt is what binds family. A very special quilt to be cherished and will be a treasure available for generations to come. You and your family are very lucky.

Ahhhh, LeMoyne Stars....my favorite! Your Great Grandma did a great job and would be so tickled that you care enough to finish what she began so long ago. Thanks for sharing and be sure to post a photo of your finished quilt!

What a wonderful job you are doing! There's nothing like saving some family history and feeling that connection.
