I have to totally agree. Creative is doing it your way.

Copying someone else's work is not your creativity, but theirs.

I agree. Methinks hubby is very confused.

I define creative as "creating" something new, original and your own--not following someone else's pattern. If you just follow directions, I'm sure there's satisfaction in the workmanship, but no latitude for your own imagination.

Creative (noun, in advertising), referring to materials, imagery, or collateral prescriptively produced through creativity and the creative process From Wikipedia!
I believe by your definition that you are extremely Creative. That is what a person with vision does. They see something they like and Morph it into something they want. Sometimes it is important to follow the pattern, idea recipe etc. and most of the time it is a wonderful experience to do it your way! Keep on doing it your way and never lose that Creative nature! WooHoo!

I would say "creative" means "your way", original thought, not following the crowd or the pattern!

Funny!!! You are a good sport!

I agree 100%.

I think your hubby has it bacwards. What you described is definately creative. If you follow the rules there is nothing to create.

Creative to me is to look at a blank easel, a pile of brushes and paint and make something from nothing. Look at a pile of fabric and a sewing machine and make something to wear, use, sleep under. So on and so on.
The creative person looks at a pattern and thinks beyond the directions and creates her/his own design.
I take it you husband is not creative? Is he an engineer? Engineers seem to think all things work on rules and principles. Take care.
