I think it is a different kind of being creative. I myself am like you. I love to change things and don't enjoy making the same the same way over and over again, but I have a dear friend who is an art teacher and follows dirctions to a t. I can't make the things she makes and she can't duplicate mine. Kind of like the difference between bakers a cooks.

MEN!! So, in his words, he must be creative as all h---.

Doing it your own way IS being Creative! I think he has it backwards

What are your thoughts on being CREATIVE?

Being able to create something all your own and come up with new ideas, that is creative. Following directions and patterns requires skill/intelligence but not creativity. Talented is having the gift of being able to sew,IMHO.

like everyone else here i say dh has no idea what he's talking about!! no offense dh, you probably know plenty of OTHER stuff. my creativity usually gets flowing more and more as I'm working on a project. i rarely plan the whole thing ahead of time - why bother - i probably wouldn't even stick to my own plans!

If you follow a set pattern for whatever, seems to me you are making someone else's creativity.

Follow your own creative urges...doesn't seem as if he really understands what create means.

AS far as I am concerned being creative is doing your own thing , I always change some things on a pattern to make it my own, using my imagination, :-)

Tell your husband is wrong.

A creative person is one who comes up with their own ideas and making something.

Tell him that those patterns and such were first thought of by the person who created it therefore you cannot claim it as your own creation.

How is using someone elses designs/creations our own creations!

If that were the case we are than repeating someone else's creation and it is not our own.

tell your DH when he starts following the"PLAN" exactly, you will too. Hi needs to go back to school!

oh my goodness! No, no, no!! Being creative is adding your own spin to things. Is a copy machine creative? I don't think so.
