My daughter wants me to make her a quilt using this fabric. I will probably combine it with (mostly) reds and blacks and maybe some black-and-white music notes fabric. (Dark colors are a practical choice since various cats will be sleeping on her bed and all the cats are dark-colored.)

I didn't expect her to choose this fabric as the feature so I'm coming up short on ideas.

Looking for suggestions, please!

pamesue 04-08-2011 09:21 AM

there is a pattern called BQ2 that I made using rose fabric...it is simple and with the right 2 colors of sashing material it looked very nice

purplemem 04-08-2011 09:22 AM

I think it is stunning. I would do Warm Wishes with black and green for the outside colors, red in the center. Black outside border.

This morning someone posted a 10 minute block with a pink rose in the center. I wondered what a full quilt would look like with the right combinations of fabrics - just a thought.

That's beautful fabric. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

nice quilt for that too.

SueSew 04-08-2011 10:08 AM

How about one of those Judy Sisneros squares or rectangles, with that as the feature fabric? I saw that fabric recently and wanted to try it but have to focus elsewhere - please let us see what you make!
thanks
Sue :-) :-) :-)

I like both the BQ2 and the Warm Wishes but I think I am leaning towards the BQ2. Gorgeous fabric.

that's impressive looking, and seems so simple [unless you can't match corners, like me :D ]

thequilterslink 04-08-2011 10:34 AM

that is really pretty fabric, no idea what to make with it tho, Pamesue's idea of BQ2 is good idea, nice big block to show off the fabric.

irishrose 04-08-2011 11:50 AM

Benartex Floral Trails is my choice for a similar large floral print. The company also has a new one not yet released with large stripes that looks.good.http://www.benartex.com/uploads/Imag...oraltrails.pdf

I like Sassylass's design. Did you make that up out of your head or was it a pattern?

paulswalia 04-08-2011 11:55 AM

There is a real easy 4 patch kaleidoscope pattern called Short Stack available thru Piecing Harmony out of New Hampshire. They can be reached at [email protected] or by phone at (603)735-4100. I have made several quilts from this pattern and never tire of it. Use the roses in the 4 patch and your other fabrics as setting triangles - I think you'll like it!

ruck9085 04-08-2011 12:00 PM

OMG! Yes! Where did you get that? I've been looking all over the place for that material!

nancia 04-08-2011 12:07 PM

i was looking at the BQ2 and followed the prompt to BQ3 which i thought was even prettier. just a thought......
(p.s. I love that fabric! is there any more?

sewcrafty 04-08-2011 03:30 PM

I have no pattern name or anything, but I do have an idea. What if you made something to look like a trellis/lattice work and have the roses in between the blocks and then maybe applique some of the roses strategically onto the lattice? Sort of like the roses are growing onto the trellis/lattice work.

Just an idea. :-D

I have visions of a Stack-in-Whack here. Maybe alternate those with solid blacks and reds. That is beautiful fabric!

Do you think it would work for a stack-n-whack? A bunch of us are going to get together the last Saturday of the month for "girls day out"... and we hired one of our favorite customers to teach us how to do a stack-n-whack.

Does this fabric have enough going on to make it work?

Oh my gosh yes. I suppose it depends though on how much fabric you have, or the ability to get more! I'm excited for you!

franie 04-08-2011 05:26 PM

Awesome fabric. Something that uses a big block would look very nice with the colors you are gonna use it with.

franie 04-08-2011 05:27 PM

My first thought was stack n whack but not enough variety for it--try it with the mirrors.

I love it. The Gutsy Geisha pattern from the designer, Joan Davis of the Quilt Corral in Hill City, South Dakota.

susanwilley 04-09-2011 03:16 AM

How about one of the basket patterns with the roses in it and the music notes around it.

Suzi 04-09-2011 04:05 AM

I'm thinking an awesome OBW (but then, I'm in the midst of one of those so nothing else comes to the front of my brain ......... ;o)
