I also fold my binding in half to line up the raw edges - I baste them together to keep them from shifting - but I don't press a crease in.

I usually press my fabric before cutting, but rarely press bindings. I really don't think it helps...but then I hate pressing.

Don't press my binding either. I used too, then all I did was fixate on the pressing line to keep it striaight and then more often than not, I would end up with it bunching.

Whooly Cow ! I would never break that rule ! It is hard growing up as a teacher's child.. Thank you !! I make my own binding almost all the time !

Well, I tried it on a small t-shirt quilt yesterday afternoon and my binding turned out beautiful all the way around!

I press binding in half.i and then sew to back and flip to front and machine sew. I think that this way aligns up by binding better so both sides are even when stitching.I think that there is not as much chance of stretching. Also I do not pin binding when sewing and I use my regular 1/4" foot with less pressure foot tension instead of the walking foot. No quilt police here.

Well, I certainly will try this next time! If I can skip a step all the better . Thanks for the heads up!
