i have a viking sapphire 870 and when the bobbin is running out it just stops and then you know it is time for a new bobbin.
If I had a dollar for everytime this has happened, i sure could go fabric shopping!! LOL
I start with a full bobbin in the bobbin. All the partial bobbins I use for my top thread. Several weeks ago I had dozens of partial bobbins and used them for piecing a quilt. The color doesn't matter when you make a scrappy quilt. When I think I am getting low on the bobbin, I remove it and then finish using it in the top. You would be surprised on how many empy bobbins I now have.

I hate when my bobbin gets low. I don't pay attention and then the machine gets all out of whack. DH has learned that I yell at my machine often!
I've called my machine a dumb doo doo more than once but usually it is me that is the doo doo!
Never mind the low bobbin light. I want one that goes ding, ding, ding when thread is low so I know I have to change or refill the bobbin. This has happened so many times and I always think, dumb, dumb, dumb.

I am with Wilma A. I have the Sapphire 870 that also stops when the bobbin is too low. I absolutely love it. It is very sensitive and only leaves about 10 inches of thread on the bobbin that I can use for had work or discard.

My Pfaff Quilt Expression has a low bobbin indicater too. It will not function however if you have the "door" to the bobbin case open. There are several yards of thread left on the bobbin when the warning icon comes on.
A feature that I didn't know I needed when I bought the machine is the needle up/down. Love it. |
