I agree, you need the contrast and it would still tie in with all the colours.

I'm a visual person too. I'd lay them on various color fabrics and see which one I liked best. Gorgeous work so far. Love your choices.

O.K. so how do you make this a quilt as you go? That is beautiful, but I don't know how you not have seams showing on the back of your quilt.
I found the tute on them. Makes perfect sense now. I love your colors.
how about a dusty rose? your blocks are beautiful. definitely post a finished picture!
I also think burgney would look great. It would be hard to find a darker blue to go with the blue.
I would audition the different suggestions in your bedroom, on the bed, then step back to the doorway and see which looks the best with your walls. You could even snap a picture of each, although sometimes the colors in a snapshot are not true. Since we aren't seeing your walls, we can't really say what would look the best.
Such beautiful blocks, I would certainly use white! Can't wait to see the finished quilt!
I like a darker color to make the quilt pop, great colors
Darker one of colors. Try some colors and lay squares down on top to see what you like.

As others already said lay a strip of each color like a rose not red rose and se which one works for you or take a photo for all of us and with the strip there we could probably give you a better answer

I still haven't given up on the striped rose, it is in the same Barefoot Roses Collection so it sure won't clash..now I have to wait until I receive it.. Elaine |
That is so beautiful, I have been wanting to do one of those with all my scrap pieces, but after seeing yours, I just can't wait to get starting, I think white would look the best.
I like the idea of blue
Go dark! Burgundy, Forest Green, or Navy. It will make your other colors pop.
I'm with dunster I'd lay a few blocks out on different color backgrounds. Personally I'd go with the blue, but the white might bring everything together better.
I love your blocks they are really beautiful, I have read the suggestions on the strips, I would try the white with the blue flowers on it on one of your strips. Like some others have said just lay out your blocks and try different colors that you have in your stirps and see which one you like the best. Most any one of the colores in you stips would work great. Just my opion. Please post a picture when you are finished putting it to gether.
My thoughts would be to the green in the floral print or the pink or blue in the blocks. Same shade, no lighter or darker...good luck! It is best to lay them out to make the choice.

I'm with dunster, i do this as well. and yes a color you would not think of is and can be stunning. Go for it ! let us know !! pic too when done !!
To keep it soft use a pale blue or pink. To make it pop use a dark burgundy or yellow. Please photograph your end result and share :)

I also like the darkest burgandy in the flowers like Mitches Mom suggested. |
I to would go with a burgundy. Something you don't have to match. I think another blue would be just to much and leave you wanting.
Beautiful.... I'd pop it with a Blue that comes close to the room color. Have Fun, no mater what will have a Pretty!!
I think a thin border of dark blue with a wider lighter color, still darker than the blues in the quilt.
Nice pattern, it would look good in my own blue bedroom. You did a good job on that, love the way it comes together. |

I LOVE the blocks and I think that your choice of the blue polka dot is perfect.

I think barely off white. Your blocks are beautiful. This board is so inspirational. Be sure you post a picture when finished. I know we would all love to see it.
Beautiful blocks!
I like the blue/white fabric or the creamy one next to the pink.
Although, I like the polka dot also. I think it should be kept to one of the fabrics already used. |
loved the beige floral print, and the blue polka dot

Thanks so much for your help, I will surely post photos when I am done, I think this is going to be a dandy quilt! |
White or dark blue would work really well with this. They are really pretty!
Love the squares!!! And being a lover of blue I vote for a lt. blue.can't wait to see the finished quilt
I don't know what color to use as the joiner strips. I think this will be the most important choice for the success of this quilt.
Elaine[/quote] Audition the blocks over several different fabrics. That way you can truly visualize what the final product will look like. Try 1)lights/whites 2) mediums 3) darks. |
I think if it were mine (wish it was) i'd try to match the wall
color. Especially since that is where the quilt will be used. Then line it with same. This reminds me of my grandmother's "string quilt" peiced on squares of paper from and old Sear's and Roebuck catalog. Your colors are goergeous. Please post a pic when quilt is finished |
How about trying a cream color. Lay a cream strip down between the blocks and step away and see how it works for you. I love your colors. They are my favorites. Good luck with your decision.
