Call it HURRICANE
I hope you share the pattern you made up. I like it - but I may need to quilt for a few more years before making something so complicated.
I like your mistake. Has more movement than the other one. I bet your son would like the 1st one too.
.by far the first one.
I like both. I agree the wrong one showes more movement I always like that. If the correct one is called "storm at sea" I would call the wrong one "Big storm at sea". HAHAHA
Like the first one better and to answer your question, I would call it a glitch in the brain. Laughing Wish it was that easy for me to design a new quilt. I usually take a design and change it to my liking. Both are nice designs.
Hurricane that is the word I was looking for, so happy you found it. hehehe
I would say that divine intervention has chosen for you...it is the "wrong" one that is the right one!
Wow, what a challenge either way, I like them both.
I call it beautiful!
turbulants at sea!
I agree with everybody else, I like the first one better!
Turbulent Ocean and Moving Waters are great names! |
I would call it "Stormier At Sea", appears to be moving like waves.
I also li
ked the "wrong"one best. |
Why is one wrong and one right?
Both are long established variations of Storm At Sea. |
Boy, for a mistake, you have hit the jackpot!! The way you designed it is much more interesting.
From little mistakes come great things, call it Waves in the Storm
I would call it DESIGN.
i call it a hurricane. hehe. but i like the first one best.
Hi
The "wrong" way looks likes waves to me. While they are both nice to look at, the "wrong" way is the way that I would make the quilt, however that's me, I dare to be different! TreeFrog |
How about a Happy Accident

Love your "mistake"! How about Birds in the Storm? or Rough Seas?
I'd call it pretty either way.
I'd call it exciting!
One of my recent magazines - American Quilter, I think, has your "Mistake as the pattern & is calling it Storm at Sea. They have it arranged in a rainbow effect. It is fabulous.
I call mistakes like that DESIGN OPPORTUNITIES!!! |
I think I like the wrong one , but it sure does make waves. I have made the right on ,really liked it.
I would call it "In Motion". And I agree with some of the others, I LIKE the first one better also.
Thanks everyone for all the great comments! I hadn't realized that this particular arrangement of blocks has been published. It was just one of those late night "oops" moments for me. I too, like it better than the more traditional presentation, but was working on drawing up the original as my son had seen it years ago and then the variation with the different colors. He had told me that he wanted something to remind him of our scuba diving trip to Cayman Island when he was a teenager. The yellow I added was to be the sunshine on the water and hopefully a sign of better things to come after the storm, as he is recovering from a nasty divorce.
How funny, I just got an email from him saying he thinks he likes the "mistake" the best! He will make the final decision tomorrow and then I can get to work. I appreciate all the input. Ann in TN |
I like the "wrong" one also. They are both great. The the "wrong " one is unique. Rename it and you have a new quilt pattern. I certainly would keep it.
I would call it awesome. It's a beautiful pattern.
Love the first one. It has so much movement. Looks like a real Storm at sea.
Wow! Love the wrong one!
I like the mistake, too!! It does have a whole lot more movement.
Sometimes our brain is telling us to explore and when we are tired enough it does. Great design.
I think you should call it "Eye of the Storm".
I love the "mistake", so much motion!
I agree with Woody I like the first one better. Reminded me of peanuts in the shell at first glance.

Crashing Waves. It reminds me of a rough day on the beach.
Love the "wrong" one
