I would file a claim and put the value at like $25,000.00 dollars, maybe that wouls shock them into looking a little harder as opposed to just paying it out

sheria 03-19-2011 05:53 AM

They have a credit card com. with the ending always being "Priceless" In my book this quilt more than qualifys. It is a work of love and art how can you put a price on that? My heart goes out to you. I hope they find it and SOON!

It was sent signature required, so they shouldn't leave it. Our local UPS delivery guy is reliable, and actually came in with something else the day the quilt was due. He knows me, and he wouldn't just leave it.

"Right now, I am waiting for a report from UPS corporate on Monday." [quote from Janet 3/18]

Janet, did you hear any news today from UPS?

labtechkty 03-21-2011 01:30 PM

I hope you did...I thought about you all weekend...

harvsstuff 03-21-2011 01:40 PM

I keep checking hoping to hear good news.

I haven't heard a thing from UPS today. Since they called late in the day before, it's possible that I'll hear later.

Meanwhile, the article in the local paper has inspired a local radio station to do an interview of me tomorrow. It's really heartwarming that so many people care. It doesn't replace the quilt, but it's good to know. :)

Chickerson 03-21-2011 01:55 PM

I'd reach out to the news and media outlets. UPS may give you more attention when they are newsworthy in a negative way - loosing packages is not good business.

BeeNana 03-21-2011 02:12 PM

Myself, and the rest of us want to know the updates and wishing for a good outcome.
I was thinking about this often during the weekend.

Honey, if you dont get it back it is because HE had a use for it other than yours. Small consolation for your loss I know, but trust Him to know what is best for us... My heart broke when I read your post... praying really hard. Huggs

I agree that somehow this thought might ease the pain of loss a little. Will pray for a special blessing on you and your quilt wherever it is.

madamekelly 03-21-2011 02:26 PM

Maybe the 'new owner' will use this opportunity to 'find' it for you. I guess that would be OK, as long as you got the quilt back.

twixbar 03-21-2011 02:36 PM

I am so sorry, I will keep thinking good thoughts.

libber 03-21-2011 03:27 PM

I am continually asking my "Boys" St. Anthony and St. Andrew, patron saint of lost articles and finding parking spots. The power of prayer says it all. I seem to have a running conversation with the two of them.

MillieMoseley 03-21-2011 04:16 PM

I keep praying for you to find your quilt. So glad you are getting more info out there about it. Good luck with your interview and let us know how it goes.

Monika 03-22-2011 05:12 AM

Good luck with the interview. Hoping you get your quilt soon!!

Scrap Happy 03-22-2011 06:03 AM

I'm following this post and waiting like the others to hear good news about your quilt coming home to you. Glad that you are getting some helpful publicity on your precious and beautiful quilt.

Hinterland 03-23-2011 03:41 AM

I did hear from UPS yesterday - my contact was home with her sick child. They still haven't found the quilt, but they are still actively conducting their investigation.

While I still don't have my quilt, I do feel that they are doing whatever they can to locate it. They have also been very good about staying in contact.

I am hopeful that it will be resolved...besides, today I saw a black cat crossing the road in front of me. That's always a good luck sign!

If anything good comes out of this, it's the support I've been getting from all of you. Thank you for your good wishes, prayers and interest.

Janet

Keeping my fingers crossed that you quilt turns up.

JuneD 03-23-2011 04:37 AM

Ohhhhh, my heart breaks for you!!!! I wish I knew someone at UPS!!!

My black cat walking across my path is always good luck too! I am sending you a little extra luck, while you need it. {HUGS} -Kelly

I just posted it on Facebook again. Hope it helps. Did you do an interview with the media?

pab58 03-23-2011 04:15 PM

Thanks so much for the update! I've been following this post and am praying that your quilt returns to you safe and sound! It's so heartbreaking, and I can't even begin to imagine what you must be feeling.

She packed it in three boxes, each bigger then the next. The box was too big to lose! She took pictures of the packing box at the UPS office, all labels and even the clerk. I read that there are tiny GPS thingy that can be used to sew in clothes. I think that would be excellent to use in any quilt going to a big show. It cost a fee to activate the GPS but the location can be pinpointed, like the new cell phones can be located if lost or stolen.

That is a great idea!

fabric whisperer 03-23-2011 09:09 PM

can the general public buy those GPS thingies? I remember seeing a report on TV lately that said companies are using them, and adding them to packages only adds $.15 USD or some nutty amount, so I would love to get ahold of them, as I ship all sorts of "original" artwork for my business!

AnnieH 03-23-2011 10:29 PM

Good luck with getting your beautiful quilt back. Fingers crossed from England.

They don't seem to get it - i want my quilt back! It's hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. I will never get those years back and I refuse to believe that it just disappeared.

And now, to top it all off, it's been juried into the AQS show in Paducah.

If anyone here knows anyone at UPS who can help me, please let me know. My heart is breaking, and the show deadline is coming up at the end of the month.

Thanks, everyone.

Janet

I'm so sorry to hear this.

Here's a thought. TV stations are always doing features, specially heart tugging stories. Call you local station and tell them the whole story. And make sure they know it's been accepted into a quilt show.

If you are really lucky, maybe the national network might pick up on the story.

It's certainly worth the try.

SugarD14523 03-24-2011 03:08 AM

I hope your gorgeous quilt is found. UPS lost a shipment of mine but it did turn up after about 3 1/2 weeks. I'm hoping yours does too.

It went well, but it's a local radio station. I am in the process of planning my next media move, which will have to be in Colorado. I am speaking with the shipper today, and hope to have more information.

I will say that once you get UPS's attention, they make every effort to keep you updated. I'm glad they are taking this so seriously.

Me three, is there any any any way that (I hate to sound pessimistic) maybe "Elvis never left the building" via UPS but to an employee's home instead? With something like this, I wonder if the newsletter can have the police search employees' homes or something. I know it sounds extreme, but look at the nature of what is missing, this is a one of kind beautiful piece of art. It just sounds kinda fishy, especially because it has already won awards, and would have continued to win.

Care to "name drop" the name of the shipper? Maybe we could apply a little pressure there for you?

JADE D 03-30-2011 07:36 AM

What's the latest?
No news is good news???

clynns 03-30-2011 07:43 AM

Can we have some more information. Size of the quilt, did you insure it (I know, stupid question), is there a label and what does it say (just in case we see it somewhere) is there any higher up you can go to except your local UPS store? Have you put it on the lost quilts website? I think the idea of contacting your local news station is a good idea and also the local station to where it was headed. Maybe someone there might have seen it. I hope you get it back. I would be so devastated.

Thanks for all your good wishes.

I didn't ship it myself, it was being returned to me. The quilt is labeled with my name, address and phone, and it's been on the LostQuilt.com website for about 3 weeks. The package was insured, and we've been in contact with UPS Corporate about the situation - they've been searching. There is still one more action in process right now, but that's something the shipper is working on. I will have to be patient for a few more days, hard as it is.

Keep us informed, and I sure HOPE they find it!!!!!!!!!!!!

jdavis 03-31-2011 04:02 PM

The idea of your beautiful quilt being stolen is just plain sickening!
I hope it turns up.
If it were me, I'd be tempted to buy full page ad space in popular magazines. Not just quilting magazines, but everyday magazines, like Woman's Day, etc.

labtechkty 04-12-2011 12:28 PM

Did they find your quilt????
