I use my Clover mostly for applique.

I think Joyce R is talking about a miniture iron. I bought one at a quilt show, used, and it gets hot enough. I will use it to press next to my sewing machine. I have a small rolling chest and I put a cutting board/ironing pad combo on it with the little iron. works fine.

The other portable iron I use is a hobby iron that I got in a hobby store. It costs between $15-20 and is primarily used as a "sealer" but it gets really hot and is teflon coated so does a good job too. - the smaller the better- but must have good temperature controls. |
Have one and use a smaller regular iron. Hot and ready to go. The mini one kept falling and I end up burning myself. Save your $.

Yes, and I love it. It's so handy for little things and when I am sitting watching T.V. and doing handwork. I use the clover one.

The small iron that looks like an iron wasted my money on doesn't get hot enough...for anything... |
I have the mini Clover and found it very useful when I was putting the pieces together for a one block wonder. It gets hot and the next time I have to use it I will use a ceramic mug to park it. I bought a steamfast mini iron to have something next to my sewing machine that covers more space than the Clover. I like them both but it's true that the Clover isn't for use on large areas.

I have the long stem clover mini iron. I do not use it as I'm uncomforatble with the length between to "sole plate" and handle. I don't care for Rowenta irons but LOVE the Rowenta travel iron & use it exclusively.

I have the clover one with the long handle. I think it's a waste of money. Don't even bother to use it now.
