ummmmmm...you better get him nuetered cause he will start spraying on things when he gets to thinkin he is a young man. We had a male his name was "Gump" and we had no female cats in the house but he walked up and wiggled his tail and sprayed all over my daughters nintendo machine! Then another male cat we had sprayed a while bag of fabric! About $200.00 worth of fabric I had to throw away. Needless to say he lives outside now. But you can get them nuetered and they are much better. Even if they do behave their urine is so strong when they are not nuetered and have become a little man. We had Tony nuetered and the urine smell was much better. And we scoop the cat box everyday. As soon as he would pee we knew it but getting him fixed took care of that. We tried the getting hima friend and they drove me crazy!! At night would get the rocks out from around my candles on the coffee table and would play hockey back and forth across the livingroom tile floor! I would get out of bed and walk in the livingroom and they were laying down like..."WHAT?? Got their little "nads" removed and they were put in a crate at night so we could sleep. No night time hockey for them. also my hubby made me a screen door for my sewingroom to keep everyone out when I am not sewing. when I am in there the kitties can come in and keep me company while I sew. When sewing is done the screen door gets latched and everyone is out except the a/c can still circulate and keep it cool. Hubby even painted the door and the screen pink to match my room.

my cats do not get on counters or tables (dinning area) but I have a small cat bed by my sewing machine (an extension table)- the cats sleep there when I am working on the other cutting table - my ironing board is not accessible to the cats so they do not lay on it - I would just panick if they got burn by the iron that is alway on when I am quilting. And I have a couch and other places for them to sleep - So, they are content - I put away projects I am working on because they seem to leave with cats if I do not.... And I love my kittys. and I love quilting - so I try to make them all happy.... even me..

A squirt bottle filled with water worked for my cats. After a few squirts to get the idea, they just saw the bottle and ran!

I had a Vet tell me to use a spray bottle w/small amt of white vinegar in it. When your pet is someplace you prefer it not to be, lightly spray the pet and give a harsh command (no no, etc)
They do not like the smell or the spray in their face.
Soon, it will learn that just the sight of the spray bottle will be an unpleasant experience and that will be enough! Eventually, in theory anyway, the pet will know where it is NOT allowed.
(white vinegar has no ill affects).

Have you tried a spray bottle with room temperature water in it? The vet suggested that for our dog when she gets to whining/barking without need. The other one I heard was to use the compressed air cans. Keep trying you will get it right one of these days. K

I have had several cats over the years and they are very sneaky. Even when I think I have one trained not to get on kitchen counters, I hear it during the night jumping down from the counter. My new kitty, Spencer the Cat, is very determined to do as he pleases. I've tried clear tape on the couch corners, then all along the sides and front but he likes to pull the tape off then lick the glue. He has an onsession for my scotch tape and I have to hide the roll in a drawer otherwise he eats it and then throws it up.

He especially loves lying on anything I happen to be working on. I recently left the edge of a robe I was sewing for my sister under the needle on my machine while I took a break. When I returned, he'd bunched the rest of the fabric on the left of the needle all into a comfortable messs and was sleeping on it. He rolls up into any quilt I'm making especially when I'm trying to iron a pieced top or back, he'll roll up in the fabric hanging down on the side of the ironing board and when I try to move the fabric along to iron, it all of a sudden has become too heavy to move. It's really quite funny. I use a lint roller to clean up and I've learned to put all my small tools including the pin cushion away in a plastic box. One day i had to look all over for my pin cushion...he'd batted it off the table and to the other side of the room under a couch. He's actually very lovable and extremely playful.

I've used the squirt bottle technique with great success. Most of my cats would skedaddle except for one that like water so much she'd come over so I could spritz her... weird cat! Anyway hating it or loving it, they all got going when they saw me reach for the bottle.

I've had a lot of cats. Even if they are neutered, they sometimes will spray. I think they do it if there are other MALE cats in the house because that is how they mark their territory. Our previous cat family had two males and one female. One of them was a "barn cat" at birth, and he was the most vile cat I've ever had. He sprayed constantly, despite being neutered. I've always believed it was because of our other male. He was definitely top dog, uh, cat, and he sprayed just to let the other male know it.

The cat family we have now consists of one male and two females (one now). He too is neutered. I've seen him spray outside, especially when our neighbor's cat hangs around. He goes around spraying on everything. I wonder how he has enough capacity for the amount he does. But he never sprays in the house.

I'm not expert, but this has always been my experience.

If you cover all with a sheet,take the sheet every week or so and put it in your dryer on air fluff for 10 min. Kinda shake it some and do it 10 min. more. Then look at your lint filter.....it's amazing. I have to do my bedspread ever 10 days or so as we have 6 cats that claim our bed as their own. It's really an amazing process.
