My cat well not leave my pin cousin alone.Whenever she can find it she pulls all the pins out of it with her mouth and drops them everywhere.I keep it in a drawer and only have it out when I am using it.Darn Cat!!! Handquilter

Mine trys to to do that also. I found a magnetic dish in the auto dept at Wal-Mart and keep the pins that I use the most in there. She can't get them out.

I kept a spray bottle with water in it & when they were small I would spray them when I caught them. Did that when they scratched my furniture with thier nails too. Now all I have to do is pick up the bottle & poof they skatter, but just the same they STILL sneek on my work. If my projects are small I cover them with my cutting mats, rulers & so on, otherwise I use a table cloth. :hunf:

Be sure not to sit close to machine if computerized.

We have lots of cats and dogs, but it is our chihuahua who is the trouble maker ;-) He jumps up on the tables, just like a cat, and drags things (fabric, thread etc.) down for his bigger buddies to "play" with.

when wwe had a cat, I used a spray bottle , squirt gun works also, filled with water. A few shots of water broke bad habits.

I haven't read all replies, so I don't know if anyone else has suggested this, but you can put cookie sheets with a little bit of water on the surfaces. They don't like it when they jump on it. You won't have to do it all of the time, just until they are trained.

My 2 cats like to sit in my work space when I am trying to sew. We call them the supervisors. They also like to test drive any quilts I am working on. Hopefully, my grandbabies won't mind the quilts with cat hair pre-installed. :)

I once had a parakeet that had full run of the house. One of his favorite tricks was to "help" me when I was cutting out a pattern. He would follow along as I pinned the pattern to fabric. He loved to pull the pins out. Sometimes he'd play tug-of-war with scrap bits of pattern paper.
