I'm done. I finished the last batch last night. I now have 175 scrappy pinwheel blocks. Looks like I can make a couple of quilts by splitting them into color groups. I'll post pics in a day or two. Thanks for getting me motovated to sew. I was in a slump.

AddieLou, depending on how many you have done so far, maybe you could put the scrappy ones in the middle and then surround them with the ones with the white bkgrd. Or use the scrappy ones in the border if you don't have too many of them, with a thin (1/2 to 1") solid color border between them and the ones w white bkgrd. If there are not enough for the whole border that is fine having them at the corners, 2 on one side, 3 on the other at each corner. Whatever works. I think I am going to put 3d pinwheels in the corners of the borders.

I am sorry to say I have not kept up on this thread. Life... youknow. Has anyone done the math for the 2 square style of pinwheels? I think my 10" squares are making 11" blocks. What do I need for a 12 1/2 "block? This is such a great way to make lovely blocks quickly!TY

size of start squares - .5 x 1.4 - .5 So your 10" blocks would be: 10 -.5 = 9.5 x 1.4 = 13.3 - .5 = 12.8 square to 12.5 and they finish at 12". I hope this is right!!!!!! Ceil figured out the math for us. Mine are 8" blocks 8 -.5 x 1.4 - .5 = 10" I'm squaring them to 9.5" unfinished. You will catch up as they go fast once you get into it! :-D |

Would it be to late for me to join in? I've got some done already (still trying to figure out a pattern for a quilt I want to do) but I love pinwheels and the inner box they make.. So can I sign up? or did someone take the roster away already? |

Go to search and type in 3 D pinwheel block. There is a tourtial on it. Let me know if you find it. The pinwheel is raised up.
