Side by side comparison

Alright, I took the advise and am trying other fabric. Here is the other option of fabric with the original option as well. The light colored fabric on Option B is going to go into the broken star motif for the next round of diamonds.

Your opinions are appreciated.

Also which one can I do more fancy quilting on? I'm assuming option b.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Yael

option A

quiltin-nannie 03-27-2013 03:26 PM

I like the first one....the beige color picks up the beige in the blocks and really makes the stars pop. IMHO the other one is too busy and takes away from your stars.

sandyl 03-27-2013 03:28 PM

Yep, the first one for sure.

TwinRiverFarm 03-27-2013 03:30 PM

I liked the first one until I saw the second. That looks like lots of fun soap bubbles floating around your star and just made me grin to see it!. But since I can't be too sure, just send the completed quilt to my house for a closer inspection. Of course, I really do promise to send it back when I am done with it, heh heh heh. This pattern HAS to go on my bucket list now.

Dolphyngyrl 03-27-2013 03:40 PM

I like number2

Dyan 03-27-2013 03:41 PM

I like the first one.

fred singer 03-27-2013 03:50 PM

option A I will go with

TnBecky 03-27-2013 03:52 PM

I agree with what quiltin-nannie said. The first one.

faykilgore 03-27-2013 03:53 PM

I prefer A but I'm a traditionalist. I do see fun potential with B

QuiltnNan 03-27-2013 03:53 PM

i vote for option a

IrishNY 03-27-2013 03:56 PM

I like the first one.

ube quilting 03-27-2013 03:59 PM

I used the second example; with the circles on it, several years ago and title the quilt 'Old Mans pajamas'. I am very glad you found that great beige to add at the outer edge rather than the 'OMP'.:D

This quilt is stunning!

Beautiful quill. I like A. The other is too busy for me.

charsuewilson 03-27-2013 04:04 PM

I like the beige much better.

dkabasketlady 03-27-2013 04:26 PM

I like the first one better, but it is your quilt use the one you want.

my-ty 03-27-2013 04:34 PM

I really live the first one.

labug 03-27-2013 04:38 PM

I like the first one.

hopetoquilt 03-27-2013 04:43 PM

Prefer the first but adore the fabric in the second one and think it would look great somewhere.

nativetexan 03-27-2013 04:44 PM

Wellll, I kinda of like them both.

Mdaniels 03-27-2013 04:50 PM

I really like 2, it "pops" nicely.

Mitch's mom 03-27-2013 05:01 PM

I like the first one because it is traditional looking and safe. I like the second one because it made me happy when I saw it. Safe or happy, happy or safe - I can't help. Sorry.

alikat110 03-27-2013 06:35 PM

I like the original one (circles). It add an unexpected element to the quilt.

Lori S 03-27-2013 06:44 PM

The first one get my vote!

SewFarBehind 03-27-2013 06:46 PM

I like the first one. Could you use the other for the backing? The colors are so pretty!

maminstl 03-27-2013 06:49 PM

We are not going to make this any easier - I like B, but personally tend to veer away from traditional

Sucia 03-27-2013 06:56 PM

1 is gorgeous and like every one else has said very traditional. 2 is more fun. Depends on what you want. I love 2's fabric. Not much help, huh?

You quilt is a knock-out.

The reason I prefer the first one, A, is because the piecing in the star is intricate and really wonderful; I feel the "bubble" background takes attention away from this. That bubble fabric is adorable for another context, maybe even on the back of your quilt where it won't compete so much with that star design.
Can't wait to see what your finished project!

I like the 2nd one

benndm 03-27-2013 07:34 PM

I like B. I think the tan frames the star and would show off the quilting. I think the circles would make a great back.

Ruby the Quilter 03-27-2013 07:47 PM

Think A is the best.

sewplease 03-27-2013 08:04 PM

I LOVE the second choice! :-) It makes me think the star is floating in the universe.... :-)

Jo C 03-27-2013 09:49 PM

Option b for me

JBeamer 03-27-2013 10:32 PM

I like both. But maybe option A a little bit more.

DOTTYMO 03-27-2013 11:31 PM

I prefer 2 . But what comes next as that also needs to be taken into consideration.

JustAbitCrazy 03-28-2013 12:47 AM

I like the bubbles fabric best. Didn't even notice the beige at first, and had to go back to see what it was after I saw the bubbles fabric. If it's an area for fancy quilting you're looking for, though, the beige is the one you want. What a stunning quilt you are making! And you piecing is perfect!

marymay 03-28-2013 03:00 AM

I would go with #2. It POPS.

too funny Ube!

Option 1- the beige - is my favorite too and I love your color and fabric choices Yael! I'm so impressed with your skill in creating this!

twinkie 03-28-2013 03:05 AM

That is really stunning. Hard to choose.

Cindy60545 03-28-2013 03:13 AM

If the material in #2 is going to be used in the next round, I would go with the beige. Going with #2 would blend too much into that next round.

Definitely A. B will detract both from the star and from your quilting.
