yes, unless you have 12 repeats and then you would want to cut in groups of two to get your 6 repeats, you need 6 pieces that look the same for your stack,

ok so I cut 6 repeats fabric folded to get 12? or just stack the 2 single pieces then cut 6 repeats that would give me 12

cutebuns 02-07-2010 01:22 PM

don't fold anything, leave it flat out, if you have 12 repeats, you can cut them in pairs of two to give you a bigger piece to work with so you have less scrap, you want 6 pieces of fabric that look exactly the same,

STAR 02-07-2010 01:26 PM

ok got it so far!

cutebuns 02-07-2010 01:34 PM

how many repeats down the length do you have Star?

STAR 02-07-2010 02:56 PM

7 repeats, I bought 5 yds. so then I would have another 7 because right now it is folded so once I cut on the fold I would have 2 long pieces to total 14 repeats(correct?)

shoot, do I need to unsew the ones I did sew down the middle? All of them?

yes, if you would like to save the last repeat, just cut it off before splitting the fabric.

cutebuns 02-07-2010 02:58 PM

only if you don't want to do y seams, Sharon, if you leave them in half, they sew in strips all straight, if you sew them all the way into hexagons you have y seams to deal with.

will this one you are teaching us have those cubes in them?
