I would ask if you greased somebody's palm, but just know this bunch would make something of that!
so, spill, what is it? curious minds want to know?

amma 06-02-2009 06:47 PM

kwhite, I wonder if your new quilt will get the same media attention as this quilt did in April???? :D     :D Maybe you could find this pattern????

"How Quilter’s Home publishers imagined their readership would be attracted to sensationalistic quilts is anyone’s guess, but the members of at least one quilting group had their granny panties in a twist: JoAnn fabric and craft stores refused to stock the magazine.

JoAnn apparently thought these quilts were a little “too hot” for their clientele — but who knows? Maybe that phallic quilt could have inspired a sexual quilting revolution."

guys, we are being thanked, by way of this title, bc we purchased quilting related products, which helps offset the costs of running this board, and helps board to prosper.
woo hoo, don't mind supporting board, it's like one of my pets, lol. :XD:

You know what they say about busted britches:

when your nose itches,
somebody's coming with a hole in their britches.

Don't know why that makes ppl's nose itch, not sure I want to know, lol!

I found it. OMG!!! My fabric is innocent oversight. This is blatant!!!

amma 06-03-2009 07:39 PM

I did not see the actual quilt, I had just read about it...hope I did not offend you  I did not think that it was that bad...being published in a quilting magazine

kwhite 06-03-2009 07:44 PM

Lord girl I don't think I can be offended. No worries. It is shocking though. The southern one is more shocking then the other one. Check it out:

amma 06-03-2009 07:49 PM

Oh My!!!! She had to have handpainted that fabric herself

kwhite 06-03-2009 07:55 PM

You would think, but I found that too. Comes in three colors

Estella 06-04-2009 07:30 AM

My Gawd, that is ugly material. As it was coming down into view I was thinking the same thing. I was shocked thinking someone would actually make a material depicting that!!!!!

Roberta 06-04-2009 11:47 AM

 Well ladies I'm glad I'm not the only one with my mind in the gutter. I just about chocked when I saw that fabric as well. Too bad my MIL died because I would have LOVED to make her a warm and cuddly quilt with that fabric.

Pun intended? ROFL.

I honestly don't get the hoopla, and believe you me - my mind jumps to the gutter faster than you say lickety.....

kwhite 06-04-2009 12:38 PM

Truly I am innocent in what I say and do. Like I said I am Naive!!!

Mousie 06-04-2009 01:24 PM

well, everyone has their own opinion, and it's still a free country, but for me, there's joking, and being naughty, and then there's, what I saw on that link.
It is offensive to me, especially the southern one. I don't need images like that to educate my children and grandchildren about the cruelties of history. That hurts MY feelings.
As for the second one,...I don't blame Joann's for not wanting that magazine in their store. People might have bought it, unsuspecting, and then wanted their money back,...or worse.
We have adult book stores, so that belongs in an adult fabric store. Everything in it's place, for those that would like to purchase it. I can see the art in it, but I won't put one on my couch, for my grandbabies to see it, lol!

kwhite 06-04-2009 05:06 PM

Quiltcrazy I too have family in the south and I said that southern one was more offensive to me then the other one. I don't want either of them in my house.

Debra Mc 06-04-2009 06:11 PM

I have a subscription to Quilter's Home. I will not renew it. Not because of the gross quilt but because I think the magazine is a load of crap. I have been very disappointed in the magazine as a whole. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Some things should be left to museums. Can you imagine what our granny's would say. Mine would call them blue. She use to say Redd Foxx made blue records. That is what they called them at the time. The flag one is pure hatred to everyone. Do they sell the wiener fabric in Playboy or Penthouse?

I found it on some random site. I didn't really pay much attention to it.

What do you all think of this pattern for my ugly combination?

http://www.quilterscache.com/F/FeatheredStarBlock.html

Debra Mc 06-04-2009 06:32 PM

I think the blue fabric is too pretty for the martian fabric. That is what it looks like turned around. Put a black with it or something dark.

kwhite 06-04-2009 06:36 PM

Martians, Waldo, phallic symbols, Hugging Ubangi s. I guess we all see it differently LOL I sure have gotten my money out of this fabric and I have not even cut into it yet.

#1piecemaker 06-04-2009 07:00 PM

I see the body parts but my first reaction was a woman in a bikini standing ing the midst of bowling pins. Does anybody else see her?

kwhite 06-04-2009 07:04 PM

WOW I love your imagination. No i don't think I see that.

MadQuilter 06-04-2009 07:21 PM

I could see a cactus on a bowling pin. :D

Chris! I think you should make yourself a pair of shorts! I think you'd look really cute! lol

Now I know what the fabric reminds me of--those crazy prints in muscle pants.

Chris - thank you SOOOOOOOOOO much for posting a pic of the fabric Tippy called Picaso Puke. Now I understand why she doesn't remember buying it!

My ugly fabric is so meek and mild that I'm afraid to post it. I may just have to go to the adult store in the next county and look around - - -

Now think how different this post would have been if kwhite had posted the fabric the other direction. Those hangy downies look like faces to me that way. This has been entertaining to say the least!!
