Yesterday, I painted my sewing room and I'm very happy with the results. The ceiling is called pixie dust, it's the lightest color in the purple, the walls are faded hydrangea which is a couple shades darker than the ceiling and the accent wall is dillweed - from the green family. I am sooooo glad I painted. The before pics are awful. I will try posting the pics later.

Does anyone know how hard it is to find the right shade of yellow. PLEASE tell us the brand and paint shade when you put up your pictures. I bought one color got it home, painted all four walls two coats and hated it. It was too harsh. I'd love a nice soft shade of yellow.

Having worked with colors my whole life my suggestion like some above. It is your room. Choose a color that is right for you. What color clothes do you tend to buy?? That is a good starting point. What color makes you uncomfortable?

I just re-painted my sewing room and struggled with whether to change the color. Finally, I painted it a neutral light cream. I love bright colors but dark colors "eat" the light you need to work and brights seem to compete with whatever you're working on. Ultimately, though, paint it a color you love. It's your room, after all.

My room is "princess purple" (a medium lavender). There are two large windows which lets in tons of light. It was my DD's room. I love the color it is so relaxing in there....it especially helps on those days when the seam ripper is my best friend. :)

I just painted mine, Honey Beige and it so bright so very pretty, glad I found that color, and really I'm not much into yellow.

Here is what it looks like!

I still need to put the trim up and tile the room! will start that next week when I get paid...

I always heard it was very difficult to find the right shade of yellow and, for that reason, I've always been afraid to try it. I do, however, really like the "butter cookie" from Sherwin Williams I recently painted my sewing room with. It's not the light, lemon-like color.

I would think any color but white or off white would distort the color. If you go with a pastel, be sure to use Ott lites or daylight bulbs.
