I haven't used these. I just know when I watch their show they always wear them.

It ruined the plate as I was never able to get most of it off. It now sits in the box of the new iron I had to buy. Oh and I was doing appliques and... damn, you think I'd learn.

Have you tried Dritz iron-off hot iron cleaner yet?

Or.....De-Solv-It. I get it at WalMart.

Here is the quilters tat that I am sporting right now from grabbing the iron from the wrong direction.

kwhite: At least your tat eventually go away!
I really like the quilt shown by your name. Did you design it or do you know the pattern name?
Isn't this the best "conversations". Someone should make a book of all these quilting incidents.

Today I am starting back to school full time (at 54) and thought I would take a few minutes to read this thread before getting ready.

Thanks for the laughs, the tears, the pain of it all, and endless reading of pooh paws. I have not yet done alot of these but I'm sure my time is coming. :-)

My accidents are usually with the fabric itself. Cut too short, sewed pattern wrong, etc. However, I do continue to do something which really hurts (pride mostly). My cutting table is elevated, since I am taller, and occasionally I bend forward too far and I catch my b@@@ in between the scissors handles as they come together. I know I know, but what's a girl to do when she has to get close? My DD just laughs when I do this and my DH, well we won't go there.

OUCH!!!

Amazingly enough it did not hurt at all. I guess I have burnt myself so often it doesn't hurt anymore!?!?!

wvdek 08-17-2009 07:56 AM

Hope you had some aloe vera juice to put on that burn. I would have screamed. Hate burns since I went in after a spoon in the deep fryer one day without thinking. Wanted to cut my hand off the pain was so bad.

kwhite 08-17-2009 07:58 AM

OHHHHHHH that would be bad. No I didn't put anything on it. I suppose I should have but that would have required leaving the sewing room. I avoid that at all costs. I do have bandaids in there but nothing for a burn.
