Even better, moisten your fingertips then pull the end of the thread through them, keeps the thread from getting too wet. I learned putting the thread in my mouth however from my mom over 60 years ago. :-D

when appliqueing use lite bond not heavy or it can damage your machine.

If you like to spend time quilting or exploring this web site, don't buy things for the house that you have to dust.

Buy a 1/4" quilting foot. It works wonderfully well for keeping a 1/4" seam.

I remember when my daughter was about 3, she was by my side as I was talking to someone, and the conversation for some reason mentioned 'dusting.' She very quietly, not wanting to interrrupt, pulled on my pant leg and whispered Mommy, what's dusting?"

Along that same line, someone posted to keep a container of 1.5" or 2" scrap squares by the sewing machine & sewing them together as you need a "leader or ender" - - It's like making 2 quilts at one time. THAT was a great idea, and one I never would have thought of on my own.

I now have a favortite tip, this one!
I use leaders and enders but not being one to waste things, throwing away little scraps bothered me, not any more!
