Nope, not laughing. English is not my native language and I made many mistakes when I first came to the USA. I never understood why people did not explain to me when I made a mistake.

I learned the other day that I should also put a little spit on the eye of the needle and it would make the thread go through easier.
Nope, not the eye of the needle, cut the end of the thread on a diagonal then moisten it with "saliva" (maybe joanns sells a sterile version for 9.99 lol), then voila it will go through the eye of the needle easily.

I felt this way when I asked what "ditter" was, not realizing it was a person's name, not a quilting notion, so don't feel bad. Sometimes when we look at something, our minds just don't click in at that moment (seems to be happening more and more at my advanced age of 65). Besides that, today there are so many ways normal words are used that it's not always clear. If you are old enough, claim it as a "senior moment", LOL. We are entitiled to being that way once in awhile.

Sorry, but, I laughed when the lady asked what a "Ditter" was and I laughed at the spit question. Thanks to both of you for providing me with laughter.

I thought it was cute. Also, far be it from me, who gave up on learning a second language, to laugh at anyone who speaks at least two. I had a boss from Czechoslovakia who couldn't understand why people laughed when he said, as the elevator doors opened, "Open see-same" instead of sesame (sessamee). I didn't laugh because I knew he spoke nine languages

Even better, moisten your fingertips then pull the end of the thread through them, keeps the thread from getting too wet. I learned putting the thread in my mouth however from my mom over 60 years ago. :-D

to many to list. i love this site. my favorite is all the encouraging that everyone gets here and help that everyone receives. i love seeing everyones beautiful work and creativeness. there are so many time I go duh why didn't I think of that way. I think the most important thing I have learned though is that its okay to think outside the box and it is okay to be yourself here. I too have learned so much more from this site than in classes. Just a big thanks to everyone.
