Spend less time on this site and more time in the sewing room!

Last night I sew the binding on my granddaughter's birthday present quilt. So right then the best tip was to wrap the binding(all 6 meters of it)around an empty paper towel roll cartridge to hang around my neck with string, no more tangled mess all over the place.

Try wetting the eye of the NEEDLE instead of thread and wet your fingers (just lightly) behind the needle with saliva .Thread simply is sucked through the eye.Haven't needed a larger eyed needle since I learned this. Sorry, this was supposed to add to an earlier post here about tips.

I use a short piece of swimming pool noodle. One noodle makes a bunch of binding holders. Wrap and store in a big basket until the binding fairy comes to your house to do all your binding.

Gal, Your views are just as mine. I too love this new Quilting media, where I can look at other quilters who face the same problems as mine and get them solved by helping members. Really I am lucky to be a member of this great group of ever helping hands.

I just thought of another great tip I got here: cutting the tips off triangles before sewing them together. I never knew that until I started the Farmers Wife Sampler Quilt--so many triangles!! It really makes it easy to match them up to each other or to squares.

Even better, moisten your fingertips then pull the end of the thread through them, keeps the thread from getting too wet. I learned putting the thread in my mouth however from my mom over 60 years ago. :-D

Me too! I thought everyone did.

What is saliva?

It's the scientific word for the liquid in your mouth.. spit.

OMG I must return to the dictionary next before every one laughing on me

Were not laughing!

I did a little, so hard my mouth full of coffee got spit all over my keyboard.
There are a lot of words that I don't know what they mean, at least you asked! I keep living in ignorance
