We've all been diligently working hard on our Christmas gifts. What will you do when the holidays are over? Birthday gifts? Baby gifts? I'd love to hear what you'll be trying next!!
Valentine's day???
I will be making a memory quilt for my Dad. My Mom collected a bunch of his childhood pic's for me to use.
Hmmm, not sure yet, but when the quilt bug bites hard again, I am sure the fabric will talk to me and I will find something to make! LOL
Finish quilting a quilt for a horse rescue, the top has been done for months, finish a Triple Irish Chain for ME, the squares have been done for at least 3 years. LOL
I will be working on things to sell so we have some kind of money coming in
Definitely baby quilts - just picked up the cutest flannels at LQS - also some baby grow panels too. I have a baby girl (friend of mine) due in February and another friend having first grandchild in May - looking forward to the holidays over and back to normal.
Planet Patchwork just posted a small mystery--I am tempted. But I have tons of UFOs and other projects in the works. And I want to do some of the gifts I gave away for myself... apron and neck pillow for sure.
I'm glad that my neice is due in March - have something to start on immediately! Gotta keep the pace I've been on. Love it!
I'm really hoping my shoulders will heal--real bad tendonitis. I'm very tense when I quilt and my shoulders and neck hurt for days. I'm ok when I piece, just hurts when I machine quilt.
I do have to make a quilt for an auction but I hope someone will volunteer to quilt it. Not due til end of Feb. |
I am deTermined to Not make gifts in 2011. One year off from gift-making. All of my quilting career (lol... 10 years, minus 2.5 years away from it) has been about completing quilts in time. In Time. Birthdays, mother's day, new babies... I want a year where I am quilting to improve and vary my skills. Where I have Time to fiddle and experiment without the pressure of hurry hurry hurry.
I'm really really looking forward to it! After christmas, I will re-organize my quilting corner and work on diminishing my scraps via string quilting. Then! Who Knows what Glorious creations await! I'm excited! |
The new mystery quilt, BOM, my usual charity sewing (which is being neglected), at least two UFO's (I hereby pledge :? )...
4 Things:
A Wedding Quilt for my brother and his fiance Catch up on a Round Robin Quilt and Bind a "big boy bed" quilt for my son T-Shirt Quilt for my Grandma made of all the T-shirts she's received from various Casinos I have a few other projects, but these are the ones that need to be done by the end of May. :) |
I have LOTS of UFO's to work on ...
i will be working for UFO's and hand quilting on Mom's quilt that I have on the quilting frame. I hope to get alot done this winter.
I'm going to be on a search for the right fabric to do a OBW for myself. Other than that, not really sure. Just need to work on getting some of this fabric used up. I found a bin full of really old fabric that I'm thinking would be neat to make a dresdan quilt(would look so vintage :) ).
Make scrappy 9 Patch, Log Cabin tops etc. for Baby quilts.
Handquilt 2 "Freddy Moran" type tops already pieced. Complete a vintage Dresden Plate top. Piece and quilt a non-traditional quilt from the book by Freddie Moran and Gwen Marston "Collaborative Quilting" for fall 2011 area Quilt Show. Whew .... that is at least a start, right? In meantime I machine quilt for others. |
A giant Dahlia wall hanging, with puffy petals

Well, I told my sisters I would make them quilts for next Christmas. Two of them are thrilled but the third said no thanks. So I have 2 queen sized quilts to make before next Christmas. I would really love to finish all of my current UFOs. Then I would like to make a Hunters Star quilt for our king sized bed. Plus I have an online store so I need to make some things for that and hopefully stuff will start selling! Sounds like I have a busy year planned as do many of you!
I have two new patterns with cutting templates I want to try.
Two new classes to plan for New Accuquilt Studio Cutting System to learn yard and yards of fabric to cut into jelly rolls and other shapes. and........get back to my crib quilts. I am behind. Havn't done as many this year as I did last. 100 last yr to one hospital.......only about 25 this yr. |

My first project is to get my studio clean and re-organized. Then I have two baby quilts "owed" to a couple of friends. After that I want to make a king-sized pieced duvet cover; no quilting, though, at least not yet. I may someday quilt it so it's a quilt by itself, but I'm not wanting to take that on right now.
I have several other projects in mind, but these three are next in line. |
UFO's
I am going to make a green, black & white quilt for my granddaughter's birthday which is in May - Starting in Jan. should give me enough time. Not sure which pattern I will use though, have a few picked out that I think would look good in those colors.
I have a quilt I started in November and one that needs to be quilted. When they are done I am going to have the entire year to work on an over sized queen for my bed.
New quilt for our kitchen- there is a new line of fabric coming in Feb from Northcott that will be perfect. No idea of what pattern I will be using...
Learning EQ7 OBW- can't wait to try this! Work on paper piecing skills- finally got the basics down and love the precision- that may be a good combo with the kitchen wall hanging A quilted jacket A few UFOs but not really too much, just odds and ends. |
I've put my sewing gear away to regain the use of my dining room, but as soon as the holidays are over i'll be back sewing. a baby boy quilt 1st then I'll dive into all the charms and fabric that santa is bringing
I'll be on to a Twist and Turn Bargello Quilt. 5 UFO's to finish as well (3 table toppers, blue jean quilt & 1 made from scraps from the Night & Day quilt).
Next year's Christmas gift quilts! (3 to do so far)

Finish piecing and quilting a baby quilt, do triple irish chain pillows and quilt for our bed (the pillow tops are already pieced), and then get started on next Christmas with a quilt for my sister (haven't even given that one much thought past stashing some super cute fabric at work). The last is more than likely several months away.
We have about 6 WIPS that need to be finished, and I will be starting my Jacob's Ladder some time after the first of the year. My plan is to use a black background with brights.

1) Finish the prayer quilt I put aside, 2) a birthday quilt for #2 daughter by Jan 13, 3) a quilt for an auction for Cystic Fibrosis by Feb 26 (this one scares me, 4)some blocks for my weight loss quilt 5) #3 daughter's birthday quilt in May, etc, etc, etc. It sounds like it will be a quilting year for me.
I will be working on quilts that I couldn't make this year. So much fabric, so little time!
1. Machine quilt & bind the quilt top in my avatar
2. A baby quilt for a gal at church 3. The quilt that started all of this: A box of scraps from clothes made by my Mom & I during my jr/sr years of school. Mom was always planning to make a quilt for each of us kids, but she died in 2007. So the project has passed to me, I'm learning to quilt, and in 2011 I will be making my quilt, then 1 for each of my brothers at a later date. 4. Quilts for the 4 youngest kids in the our extended family for their birthdays. Hopefully spread out enough that I can accomplish this. |
I have a wedding quilt I'm working on and then a donation for Relay for Life.
