I have always used Gutterman, Joann’s on sale. Recently started using Isacord. Get it from United Thread. When on sale, which is plenty often. Plus United has been great to work with...

I use a light gray for almost all piecing, and it never shows. I usually use Gutterman poly-cotton for most piecing, but if I need the best accuracy, I tend to use Aurifil.

I also use mostly light gray or cream. Not sure about the best place though. I buy from anyone who has a good sale.
My favorite is Aurifil but I also like Craftsy and Missouri Star for thread. Connecting threads is good but lintier than others for me. My machines are not picky though. |
I use Gutterman’s 100% cotton 50 wt. white or neutral. I buy when they have the 50% off sales. Sometimes Aurifil cotton if its a good sale.

I am also a big fan of Connecting Threads. I have almost every color they sell, plus most of the sets and a lot of the larger cones. It can be pretty linty, just makes me clean my machines more often, which is good for them anyway.

Tristan Italian Thread the ones who introduced Aurifil to the US decided to clearance out Aurifil thread to go to another brand. (which is excellent thread too) The prices were unbelievable. I bought cases of 24 large spools at a time for about $65. Tristan has the Tre Stelle 100% Egyptian Cotton 50wt Thread now. I watch their website for specials. I got a spool of 10,000 yards 50wt in bronze color for $18. It's a great color for piecing.
