Program presenter cancels at last minute

UFO trade night w/ raffle tickets. By social media and telephone, most of the members were notified to bring any UFO or orphan blocks they wanted to get rid of. We had 6 tables full of them. Put numbers on and sold tickets-cheep. We had 3 people calling numbers and each had a runner to take item to winner. It took an hour and so much fun.
The orphan blocks were 1 ticket/block
An idea on this board is to have a virtual tour of a club members studio prepared for emergencies such as this.
Have a 3 panel discussion to get to know a little about them with questions sent to them in advance.
By social media/telephone etc. let members know there'll be extra time for show n tell-bring extra to the meeting

I been program chair for four different times for my guild and learned to have two emergency back up programs on standby. Now that the guild bought a projector with dvd player it's much easier. A DVD can be shown. It cost about $100.

When I was program chair for our guild, we had a couple of backup programs which we used as programs in year number 2 as chairman. One was computer resources you can use. We distributed a list of resources we found interesting on the computer and gave them the website addresses. We were co chairs so we actually used our laptop, connected to the internet and visited the sites. The members could then figure out which ones the wanted to visit. Our other back up was a Christmas in September ( could be any month). We did gift ideas that we had used, gave the website for the patterns and served Christmas cookies. We made a big bag like Santa's bag and pulled the ideas out of the bag. We did quilting game night, did some games that involved quilting. Put the group in teams and used it as a getting to know you. Last month our program canceled the day of the meeting and our club president did a quilt trivia. Asking a long time member to share a quilt journey is also a suggestion depending on how close the meeting is. Good luck.

We did a string quilt one where everyone was asked to bring a string quilt they've made and we talked about the different ways to do one; we had a UFO challenge and each person brought a UFO that they planned to finish that year and told about it (one was over 20+ years old!); favorite tool; batting discussion (one of the long armers did this);one of our members is doing many portrait quilts and will present for one month on how to do this. We always try to have "in-house" presenters in Jan. & Feb due to possible weather postponements--this year we may need to stretch that to March!
