I was just about to order this from Fabric.com and then checked the reviews and it seems there has been a recent (last 3 or 4 months) manufacturing problem that led to lots of bearding after washing the finished quilts. It seemed the company was responding and trying to help those who had problems but I couldn't tell if it has been corrected yet. So wondering if anyone has used this batting very recently and if so, were there any problems. This was showing up on the twin size batting, don't know if it was only in the size. QD is my favorite batting but haven't tried the wool yet. It is a splurge I wanted to use for my BIL's QOV and don't want any problems at this point.

I do adore QD batting but like you, I have never tried their wool but got a small sample of it. What you post is most concerning because this same complain has arisen before, about a year ago, maybe more. It has left me very hesitant to try it. Kind of like pet food. 1 recall and I will never risk using the brand, no matter how innocuous and how many have had no problems.

You totally spooked me because I just ordered a king sized wool batt for my bedspread! Luckily it was a Hobbs Heirloom, not Quilter's Dream. I haven't used QD wool recently, but I will be watching this thread. I just love wool batting for "grown up" quilts.

Have you called the company? I had a question about the weight of the QD wool vs. the QD select cotton and they were very nice to talk to. I am using QD wool right now (bought 1 1/2 year ago on sale) and LOVE it. I am hand quilting. No bearding noticed.

I'm hand quilting a quilt with QD wool and it is bearding through the dark fabric. I'll try Hobbs next time I want wool. QD wool is thermally bonded, whereas Hobb's is not. Maybe that makes a difference with the bearding.

I have some QD wool I have machine quilted once with no problems, and I love it. Mine was bought a few years ago. QD wool is my favorite batt. I would call the company; they are really nice to talk to and I think would be very honest and helpful---just my experience.
