I would say both even though I only do it as a hobby, something to stay warm with on cold winter nights .

I have often been asked if I consider myself as a crafter or an artist. My answer always is: I am a quilter. See it like you want.

I consider quilting one of my hobbies, but some folks make beautiful art with fabric and patterns, so it's definitely both.

    Default Both

Definitely both. It may not be a full time thing, which makes it a hobby. I quilt when I can. But the creative process is part of things, so, that makes it art. I have always felt the need to do something creative. It is part of who I am. I enjoy the creative process almost more than the actual sewing. I love designing, seeing what I envision come together, happy accidents that happen along the way.

An Old Hobby? What does he do for relaxation... Golf? Is that a sport or a hobby? There are some many things that I do as a hobby that someone does as art. I do like creating something that no one else will have; is that art? Hobbies are what you enjoy to do in your relaxing times. Art is in the creation of something, quilts, pictures, sculpture, music and books. I like to create alot of stuff for my hobby and I show a lot of it as art.

    It is Both.

It is whatever you want it to be, art, hobby, therapy or an addition. Just do whatever it takes to make you enjoy it. And please post what you make for us to enjoy.

I think I will go all definition-y on this one. According to the Wikipedia dictionary:
craft =An activity involving skill in making things by hand.
art=The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture
hobby=An activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.

    Potentially, all three!!
