I mentioned in another thread that a needle went right through my finger, including the nail when I was a teenager. Never forgot the lesson to keep my fingers away from the pressure foot area. Instead I use a stilletto, thang or wahtever is handy by the machine.

Who would have thought a current tetanus shot is required to be a quilter...... this is why I hand quilt and needle turn appliqué. I am afraid of my machine!

I did this once-many years ago. The funny thing was that my roommate was a vet student and she had no idea how to help me. We disassembled the needle mechanism. Her brother took me to the health center. The nurse took one look and kinda had to laugh and said the needle has to be reversed and she took hold and pulled it back out. Boy, did that hurt. However, I had much to be thankful for. The needle missed my fingernail and the bone. But, I did need a tetnus shot. Thus far, I've never done that again-I remember the pain! Hope you heal soon.
