since the majority of my quilts were hand quilted by me, i don't mind that part. binding on something round or not straight. that's a problem i hate to deal with, like a circle. I quilt in sections, so the basting part isn't so bad. I was quilting way before the rotary cutter, so i like using the rotary cutter now. got that when it first came out. best invention since the sewing machine.

ok....ok....ok....I've read all the posts on this thread and while I can understand most of them my most hated part of quilting is 1) deciding on a pattern/block to make and 2) picking COLORS....I am the worst and not good at figuring out color combos....all the rest of quilting doesn't bother me! why couldn't it be the binding???!!!

I've got 2 currently in progress, but once they're done, I hope to go a long time without doing another tee shirt quilt. The sheer amount of time spent standing over a hot iron setting the interfacing to the shirts.
And then doing it all again when it fails to stick/peels too easily.

[QUOTE=mme3924;7552928]When I first began quiltmaking, I loved cutting. I had been sewing for donkey's years, but it was mostly clothesmaking, and I had never used a rotary cutter. So I enjoyed the preciseness of it. And, I think, it delayed the actual sewing of a block, which I was apprehensive about.
Now, some years later, I almost hate cutting. It bores me and sometimes frustrates me. What I want now is to get to the sewing.
And to add to the title of this thread, here are other things I'd cheerfully never do again while quiltmaking:
1. Square up blocks .... ugh!
2. Make the quilt sandwich. I hate this part.
3. Decide upon, measure, and sew borders....mainly because it's boring.
4. Clean up my mess after all is done.
Oddly, I don't mind the binding, which some people hate.
So, what are your "I'd never do it again if I had a choice" quiltmaking chores?[/Q
Binding! So how about if you do my binding and I do the rest of the things you don't like?

I find that my quilts lay flatter if I trim up my blocks before sewing them together. I get lots of compliments on how flat my quilt lay. I didn't dislike binding, but it is hard for me to do with my hands any more. I ONLY clean when I have to find something!
