A couple years ago one of our quilt group members passed away very suddenly. Many of us attended her visitation and the family had displayed many of the quilts she had made for family members. We recognized many since she had shared them with us at our 'show and tell' times. Our tribute to her was purchasing a Quilt Book in her memory for our local library where we hold our monthly meetings.

My mom didn't quilt, but she did beautiful knitting, crochet and counted cross stitch. When she passed, we displayed quite a few things that she had made. It was our way of showing how talented she was. People have picture displays all the time, why not artistic displays.

What an awesome idea for anyone, and great tribute to any quilter. This is an idea that I will share and that I hope will become more common.

This is the best idea ever, wish I thought of it two years ago when Mom passed.

Obviously many of the quilts are a wide range of patterns. But someone mentioned a confort quilt for those in the hospital/long term illness and another mention of Honor Quilts or Home of the Brave quilts. Are there specific patterns for these, especially the last two?

I am organist at the local funeral home and I have seen a quilt laying over the casket instead of a flower pall. It was beautiful because it fit the person.
