Dovo 3-1/2” hardanger scissors on Amazon. These amazing little scissors are expensive, but Sandra Leichner recommended them to me because they are her favorites. They are small and have an extremely sharp tip.

IMHO nothing beats Kai Scissors. For trimming applique, I use N5100C (curved blade). Find them at kaiscissors.com

I have Kai, Havel and Karen Kay Buckley -- my fave is the Karen Kay Buckley. They are very sharp all the way down the tip.

Thanks for the information. A heads up to future shoppers: I have found lately that Amazon doesn''t always have the lowest prices. I like to comparison shop different items when I visit a new website. When I checked out Kaiscissors.com, I found some models of scissors are cheaper there than on other sites I visited and it offered free shipping. "As my mother told me...you better shop around."

My mother's sewing scissors were from Solingen, Germany. Solingen is known for great scissors. I'll check them out. Thanks.

....your responses have been greatly appreciated.....Today I have two more questions as I learn about applique scissors....

I was watching a Susan Carlson YouTube video today and she was using a pair of duckbill scissors with the duckbill blade at the top and the cutting blade at the bottom next to the fabric. I thought they were designed to have the duckbill down near the fabric and the cutting blade on top. With the duck bill down the base fabric is forced downward to keep it clear of the cutting edge. Cutting the other way around looked so clumsy.

1-Does anyone know the reason for the cut side down method?

2-Does anyone use duckbill scissors?

Your comments are greatly appreciate.

Thank you!

Quote: I have some intricate cutting to do on a cotton applique pattern. It will require a pair of scissors that have a sharp tip and are easy to control on interior portions of the applique; IE. "I need clean cuts in tight spaces."

What scissors/snips would you recommend?

Thank you!
I was at a quilt retreat last weekend. One of the girls had a Karen Kay Buckley Perfect Scissors - the 6" size. It was tested all around. One girl used it to cut dozens of tiny daisy shapes out of wool. All of a sudden, she was done - now we are all getting one. And wouldn't you know it, it's bargain priced on Amazon right now. https://www.amazon.com/Karen-Kay-Buc...rfect+scissors
