I went and got SF101 and am going to try that. I got busy working on another project while I kept reading what everyone was saying. I'm also curious about something, I know some of you said you used the Sulky and liked it which is good info. My pattern just called for DMC. I have some embroidery thread from a place called The Gentle Art. It's over dyed floss so as such is a little more expensive(I use it in needlepunch). My question is this, can you use whatever thread you prefer as long as it looks good? Thanks again everyone!

I've learned so much on this thread. I've never heard of using backing of any kind. It's also made me want to do some redwork, and since I want a Christmas quilt, I just ordered a book with Kansas City Star patterns. It should arrive tomorrow. I'm so excited! Hopefully, it'll have these and even more tips for me.

The best needle (it is the only one I've found that is tapered from the tip to the eye) is from Scarlet Today (www.redworkplus.com) She also has cute hand embroidery patterns on her website. I think crabapplehill also sells those needles. When looking for patterns check out coloring pages on the internet--just google a subject and you can spend hours cruising through getting inspired.
