Rules for sashing
#11
Depends on the block size. For smaller blocks, I like 1" sashing. For larger blocks, 1.5" or 2" looks good to me. It's all up to you. To me, if it's larger than that, it looks out of proportion. But what's important is how you like it. :)

When I'm putting sashing between blocks I try to go with a dimension that is used in the block. I guess you could say I try to keep it proportional. A 9-patch 12" block could get 4" (the size of the patches) or 2" (half the size of the patches).
But like everyone else said, it's what pleases you and looks good for the overall look of the quilt!

That flies in the face of everything I've ever been told about the Quilt Police... ;)
I love being able to make my own rules....
