With sashing.
To my eyes, the design morphs to modern with the white sashing. And it works since you have a fair amt of white in the blocks. With the white, it's more clean and fresh; without the white, it's more cozy and mysterious.
So...which way does your daughter's taste go?

I like it both ways, too.
In my mind, it depends on how you will quilt it. I like to see a block treatment with SID when there are sashes, and an overall treatment when there aren't sashes.
And another consideration is how it will be laundered....
But the best consideration is which one your daughter will like better! :-D
