I prefer the one with the sashing - it gives more dimension to the quilt and ties it together in a better way. With just the border it looks too separated and disjointed.

I like it with the sashing. I don't think the fabric is ugly. Sometimes it just needs something else with it to perk it up.

i usually go for sashings because i like to see the pattern of the block. however, it looks great without as well. and i don't see an ugly fabric, either.

I would go with the sashing on this one.

I like it with a sashing. ( But if it was my quilt I would put on a darker sashing to bring out the flying geese!) It will still make a great quilt!

I like # 2. It just seems more cohesive with the sashing. I don't think any of it is ugly, just not MY usual colors. What type/colors do you usually prefer that makes you think this is so ugly?

I like the smashing one better, it's less busy and brings out the blocks. Nice quilt.

I like the one WITH the sashing...as it incorporates the border fabric into the design area. Otherwise it just looks like the 3rd fabric (and 3rd color) in the quilt. (I'm not counting the off white background fabric/color)

I LOVE the opportunity to give my opinion on quilt top colors to use or layouts to use to other quilters.
    Don't you?
