I bought one of the kits at a very reasonable price. The quality was pretty good. I was surprized that I had enough material left over to make a pillow case to go with the quilt. Some places will give you just enough for the quilt.

Connecting Threads is one of my favorite online shops, needless to say I'm a satisfied customer. They've always been upfront about identifying their "seconds", usually under $3.00, most of these are patterns layed on the fabric slightly off-center. These types of flaws are perfect for scrappy quilts. You might want to keep in mind that "You get what you pay for..." and if you're buying $3.00 fabric, don't expect $12.00 quality. Give them a try, unless you're looking for contest quality, I think you'll be pleased.
Good luck

I'm one of those people who doesn't feel obligated to buy only at my LQS. I've made many quilts from fabrics purchased at JoAnn's, Connecting Threads, Walmart, etc., and as long as you're careful about selection and quality, to me, fabric is fabric. Just because it comes from an expensive shop (fabric around my area in LQS is anywhere from $11-$13/ yard) doesn't guarantee you fabulous quality fabrics. I would not be able to make very many purchases if I didn't take advantage of the retail stores.

I've bought hundreds of dollars of fabric, thread, batting, etc. from CT. Never been disappointed. Their cotton thread, in particular is excellent. I use it for piecing and also on my longarm with no breakage at all. I haven't found it to be thin at all. Customer service is second to none. They ship to Canada for $7.00 which is a real treat for us Canucks. (and no additional duties) Our LQS cottons average $18.00 per yard.

I am waiting even as we speak for an order from CT..it's my first order.. but I liked the price for the backing width fabric and the free shipping for orders over $35 was a great selling point. Can't wait to get it.
