I also use the news print (clean) that you can get at a moving and storage place. It isn't too badly priced and there is always alot of it in one box.

never thought of coffee filters but they would be great to us e with the Drunkards Path. They can be cut in hallf or quartered or even more cuts. Great idea.

Thanks for that info. Guess I won't be using dryer sheets after all.
Why not? Just because it is flammable? If the clothes are close enough to flame to catch fire, "you are in trouble". Real trouble already.

What is "foundation" method - piecing, etc? In the small world of quilting I was in years ago, (just getting back into it again) I never heard it mentioned.
Foundation piecing is sewing onto a background of some sort. The shape of the piece you sew onto is totally up to you. This background is your foundation. If you use paper for this, you would tear the paper away after it is covered with your fabric strips/shreds/scraps. Or not tear it away if you're so inclined! This is a neat way to use up small pieces of fabric that might end up getting tossed. Or you can totally plan what fabrics you sew onto the foundation for a more unified look. Try looking up "String Piecing" on this board or Google.

I have tried several different type. A lot are too hard to tear off when you need to. I prefer pattern tissue or better yet, telephone book. They give just enought to guide you and come off super easy.

I use the Scribble Pad's from the $1.00 stores. They work great for paper piecing and the paper comes off really easily! I cut the pages to 8 1/2 X 11 and they run right through the printer.

I too have been reading this thread with interest. I have used dryer sheets and they worked well. Now with all these other suggestions I got to laughing - how about those toilet seat donut covers used in a lot of public restrooms (New, of course). Think what an interesting shape this would be! We could have a challenge -

I was under the impression that used dryer sheets were used. They would have the flammable substance out of them and on your clothing. Be careful lighting your cigarette.
