Back on the question of turning in the 1530 - I will agree with menger that I would not trade it in. I have one as well and it still works beautifully. I also went the embroidery/sewing route more recently and splurged on a Babylock Ellisimo gold 2 - still learning the whole practice of machine embroidering but am having more fun the more I do it. Learning more seems to provide the inspiration to get better and more creative with the embroidery as well. Happy sewing and embroidering and keep that 1530!

Go into your local Bernina store and try it. If it was in my budget, I'd get a longarm machine with a stitch regulator instead. The longarms go betweeen 1800 and 2400 stitches per minute, and the Berninas only go about 800 stitches per minute. So you have to move pretty slow with the BSR.

My advice to you is NOT to buy another Bernina if you want embroidery capabilities without test driving the Brother/Baby Lock Quattro/Ellisimo. They are the best when it comes to embroidery.

I hear the new Berninas are having problems with the touch screens wearing out. I have a Quattro 2, and a Bernina Artistry 730 with embroidery capabilities and it's so difficult to embroider on I don't use it anymore. I can go months on the Quattro 2 without using the embroidery, and I still can remember how to set it up. Not so with the Bernina!

Oh yeah, and I also have a Pfaff 7510 and a feather weight... Each is best for different functions. I love them all!

if I were facing this decision, I'd definitely sell the Janome. Bernina feet are expen$ive. If you keep the 1530, most of your accessories will be interchangeable. I have a 780 and use my 350 for backup/classes. You'll love the new features on the new models. The BSR is the greatest invention since rotary cutters. Really
