I have to do that with a throw and matching pillow. I've had the top done for a long time, then I got sick and haven't got a chance to get back to it. Now I'm in the middle of Christmas baking and I host Christmas dinner for the family. No way will I get it done. It's for my cousin's son and his bride from Japan. She's having a get-together for them. I've decided I'm not going to stress over it. If I don't get it done, I'll take a picture of the top and mail it to them when it's done. They live in CA now.

Have you thought of maybe calling local quilt shops to see if they have "free sewing" times you can be there to finish them? Ours does and let you use their machines too. It's worth a try.

I once gave someone an afghan I was knitting for them. I did not finish it in time BUT I wrapped it up anyway, needles still attached, and they loved it!
Took me another 3 weeks to finish the thing but they had it forever and still loved the idea that it was a work in progress when I gave it to them.

It's rewarding at this time of year to see how many members of this board really care and want to help solve your problem!
Special, special place to be, QB. :)

I gave my son his Along The Gunflint Trail quilt in a shopping bag in a kazillion pieces for Christmas a few years ago. He thought it was a hoot. And he really appreciated all the work I did when I presented him with the completed quilt months later. Don't let this frustration take the joy out of your quilts or the giving of them.
