Had the EXACT same problem with mine. After 2 hours of frustrating messing around with everything else, I took out the needle, changed it and turned it around, the needle does not WANT to go in THAT way. Now that baby purrs like a kitten.....just sayin.....Good Luck.

I got the package of number 66 bobbins at walmart for 97 cents, and they had both the metal and plastic. From what I've heard, you want the type that came with your machine, which in this case is metal. I'd gotten some earlier from a sewing machine repair man, and he charged me $1.00 each!!! But that was before I knew what size my machine needed.
To determine what side your machine is threaded from, look at the last little loop by the needle that the thread needs to go through. That will always be on the side where the needle is threaded from.

when you thread the mach, if the last thread guid is to the rigt if the needlr the flat side faces in If the last guide is in the front the flat side if the needle go to the back. if their is thread on the outer part of the bobbin it will hold the bobbin make sure the bobbin is clean on outter sides put a touch of oil on some cloth and wipe the outer bobbin lightly

Yes, Jenny at Sew-Classic will be a big help. She has all the necessary supplies you need for your vintage machine. She is very reasonable in cost and in the description when you order, you can put any questions you may have. Good lady!!! Our Walmart does not carry any bobbins for the the older machines. They do have the 15-1 needles however.
