I would take it for sure, and probably make something for the GD. Perhaps you could even get her to help!

Do it. It's your vacation & my experience has been when you get kids & grandkids together that they often will go off on their own together to do something like skiing or surfing. Then you can enjoy sewing in a beautiful atmosphere and everybody is happy.

    Jeanne,
My husband and I just spent 4 days in Cannon Beach recently. I took a hand project, Grandmother's Flower Garden, and pulled the table up to the window, watch the storms and sewed. It was one of the most relaxing 4 days I have spent in a long time. I say have fun. Enjoy yourself. The weather is not the best this time of year so sewing and watching the storms will be wonderful.

I have brought my sewing machine along on vacations (where I would have the space) since I was 15! And that's a LONG time ago! (And if there isn't room to take my machine, I make sure I have enough hand work to do. Sometimes its the only time of the year I get any appliqué done.) For the last several years, I've taken my machine to the house we rented at the Outer Banks. Especially if it rains, I'm not the one going nuts over being trapped inside and having to play board games to pass the time! Take it with you and enjoy your vacation!

Sounds like a good idea, if you like to sew, do it, that's part of your vacation. I go on cruises at times, thought it might be fun to go to one that has the sewing and quilting classes, that would be fun for me.

I take mine when I travel. If it is stupid then that's just what I am and I'm OK with that. Would your family really expect anything else from you if you sew in all of your free time? Seems part of you. I say Go For It!!

Th weather has been horrible at the OR coast this past week....and you never know if that could happen while you are there. Which means a lot of inside time.....while the others are watching TV or playing games you can sit and sew.

I vote take your machine but use it only if you stay in the room while others are doing something you do not enjoy
