Talk me out of making a Storm at Sea quilt!
#31
We have a boat that we spend every weekend on all summer, so when I needed a quilt for it, of course I made a Storm at Sea. I will have to see if I can find a picture of it.
I ended up paper piecing it, and I made the blocks a little bigger. It turned out really good. I do have EQ and I just put in what size block I wanted and could print out the paper needed to make it.
Go for it, it is really pretty when it's done.

I took that class at my lqs earlier in 2011. There was alot of information to make the fabric pieces line up, and special rulers. I would say to make a sample block first, to see if you like the process. I would have to be on tranquilizers to do an entire quilt. One day maybe, I will try again. but it is labor intensive for me. I have the templates and the book, and the batik in sea green, turquoise, white and yellow all ready, about 50% cut out too. I don't think this is a ufo, only got one block done in class. (dyslexia makes storm at sea tough for me.)

NOW I find out you can do Storm at Sea as paper-pieced! At the Houston quilt show in November I bought a laser cut kit from John Flynn's booth for a blue batik SAS, thinking that at least I didn't have to do the cutting! I'm going to tackle it anyway, but thanks for the link to the paper pieced patterns...they are beautiful.

On my "to do" list because I love the pattern. Why not go to the Pictures section, click on Storm at Sea and look at all the beautiful creations that people here have made? You'll get some wonderful ideas for color selection and or layouts
