Hi from central California in the Sierra Nevadas! We're 3 wks behind on our rain season and we're parched. You've all heard about forest fires so I've been waiting on bated breath praying for rain. Well Thanksgiving week is when it came. Major roads are closed; I5 from LA to most of the rest of the state; i180 to Reno Nevada; I5 north of Redding to Oregon. And the snow level here is 2000', we're at 3000'. Some of you will say, "That's nothing!" It is if snow at 4000' is iffy. So Wed night it snowed. By the time we left for my sister's the roads were clear. DS' husband informed us this AM there was a 4 hour window for us to get home. 15 min after we arrived, it started snowing.
On Tuesday the heater gave up the ghost. The gas stove did OK Wed night. . when we got home today it was cold in here. It's just getting so my hands are thawing out.
So I'll sew a little tonight to finish a quilt top and back. Then I'm making comfort quilt kits from stash (down sizing) to hand out at guild on Thursday.
Oh yeah! At DS' with her family there, gave away some table cloths and 1 sm electric appliance. They'll give someone else enjoyment rather than gathering dust.

Oh my gosh I'm sorry your heat went out! I'm in the Nevada County and our power blinked on and off for 3 days! Thankfully we could light a fire in the wood stove. We just had a low-key holiday, so all of us were happy to just watch it snow. My 13 year old son is reading a new book on his Kindle Oasis and I'm doing some black-friday shopping online and now I'm back to sewing!
Stay warm!

Big dinner was Thursday. Straightened up the house last night & put “Fall” away. Not ready to get “Christmas” out just yet so today I made an “I Spy” kids quilt top with 5.5” squares for charity giving. Have enough to make 2 more and then the weekend will be gone. .

Our “big” dinner (just the two of us)—had a turkey breast, which cooks in only 2 1/2 hr or so, whipped potatoes, dressing, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls and pumpkin pie. Since everything was ready to go, finished my hexies for OBW Split Rock quilt and pressed them all. Today, I started my BH mystery. They are all cut, subcut and ready to sew, press and spin. Toe tapping now—can’t start my Sugaridoo until the background comes. Made cream of turkey with wild rice soup. Tomorrow will get groceries, some more raspberry fabric, wait for the mail, finish the BH units, and start arranging hexies. And watch the Gophers.

Kristi, pretty quilt top, that looks like an easy project. Is the corner stones 4” square?
I cut out my scrappy BHMQ strips for step #1. I went back to my stash and found more fabric to make a larger top. Hopefully a queen-king size top. So, so far all is from stash.

Kristi: Very nice quilt. The grey/white blocks allow the strips to really pop!
Judith: I like your QAL blocks.
Krisb: Go, Gophers! I will be watching too. The weather forecast is for it to be wet-could be rain, sleet, and/or snow.
I have the side borders ready to sew on the on-point quilt top. Since I only had the 9 blocks and cut material, I had no idea how the quilter wanted them set but it worked to set them on point and I was able to use all of the blocks. Hopefully tomorrow I will have the top done.

Only spent 1 - 1 1/2 hours today sewing but one more section done. I didn't bring much fabric with us this year but I found some scraps that sort of match for the inside of the front pocket. I have a piece of old ribbon I put aside to trim the top of the pocket, I think I will have to try to sew that on front and back at the same time. Hummmm.
The memory card on the new camera does not work.
Kristi is it possible for you to tell me how to post here from my telephone? I am afraid neither my husband nor I are very technologically inclined. It is a real nuisance sometimes. If you can many thanks.
Good night all.

Hi everyone. I have been a larker for some time but now that I left my abusive husband, moved across country to be closer to my children and are somewhat unpacked, time for me and sewing. I started with Bonnie Hunters first clue and couldn't be any happier
