    If you cut with a razor/exacto knife, cut on glass. You can find a glass mat in the scrapbook section of your craft store. When you cut on glass, there is no drag on the blade. You would need to iron the fabric to freezer paper as suggested above.

    I was also taught to use a marble slab for exacto work. won't break as easily as glass, but has the same slick surface!
