Thread cutt
I have a new brothers dream creator. My problem is some of the time I use the thread cutter it cuts the thread to short and when I begin to sew the next piece the needle is unthreaded. Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the cut thread length. I love the thread cutter but it is unnerving when you go to start sewing and the machine says thread needle. Someone told me if you do a reverse stitch or lock in place stitch before cutting the thread this wouldn’t happen. Wrong it still happens.

I have Brother with auto thread cutter. It would unthread the needle too. The repair guy fixed it, said it was leaving too short a thread length for the top thread so it came threaded. Oh forgot, the Brother repairman said there was no way to change it, wanted to put in a new one. The man who did was a jack of all brands.

oh, no, no! With the price of these machines...take it to the dealer and have him adjust the cut...it can be done..stamp your feet if you have too! I did, and he did! Btw-no charge to me...or I was going to complain to BBB......

Mine does that too, unless the machine stops in the highest position for the needle. If you have it stop in the "needle down" position then crank the wheel to get the needle up just a little, when you start sewing again the needle has to go up first, before it goes down, and that is when it becomes unthreaded. At least on mine, that's what happens.

Check your preference page. I believe there is a setting for length of thread cut.
Have you done the latest UPDATE (not upgrade)? The updates are a free download with instructions on the machine web site. the lastest version is 3.02 dated. This problem was discussed last week at my local machine dealer for these machines.
Good luck!

My Babylock Jane has a thread cutter. I try to remember to keep the presser foot down and then push the button.
Of course, sometimes what I am going to sew unthreads the needle, when I get too close to it.

I have a Babylock Serenade with thread cutter, and found that happens with certain brands of threads, not at all with other brands. Do some experimenting. With mine, Star thread in the short fat round spool is terrible. When I use Guttermann thread the cutter works fine.
