Are there anything else in life that you don't have to "tweek" I believe any mechanically made - stamped out on machines" have to be adjusted to one's needs. Lets not blame the equipment.
Does the oven always give the correct degree of heat that the dial says? Or do we adjust.

Because the scant part is variable depending on the thickness of your fabric and thread.

The problem is, you're all obsessing about the seam allowance when the thing that matters is the measurement of the fabric on the other side. It doesn't matter if your seam allowance is a perfect 1/4 inch down to the micron if the measurement of the right side is supposed to be 2 inches and it's 2 and a sixteenth.

Do you press your seams often? Setting the seam and then pressing to one side helps when you are sewing the next piece. Sometimes, the pieces seem off when all it is, is one piece is a little stretched.

Thank you for this tip. It is certainly worth trying. I spent a lot of time yesterday with my pal Jack The Ripper because my bottom fabric took a hike to the left.....even with pinning.

Thank you for the tip. My bottom fabric has "left the building" so to speak no matter how hard I try to hold the two together. I am entering my sewing room now to try this technique. Kudos to you for the suggestion.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm I'm not even to that point of pressing a seam!!!! The first 2 pieces of fabric I put together will have the bottom one walk away from the foot (and it doesn't matter what foot I use or what machine I use)..........
