I know that with 25 or so quilts under your belt makes you an able quilter. You must post photos as you progress. THAT IS A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE in that box. I would see if any of the aunts and uncles have photos of her wearing any of the dresses also. That way you could show how this quilt had it's earliest start with even if she is standing off in the distance.

Wow! You have become your grandmothers archivist and clearly your up for the job. How marvelous that she took the time to document her designs. Just priceless.

The colors in the dresses look to be a treasure also. Happy for you to have been given this gift.

I think this is what quilts and quilting is all about. You are very blessed to have this opportunity to "pass forward" the memories of such a wonderful lady. I have not had any quilts forwarded because they were all "tied" and very used, so I am afraid they are no longer. But I am quilting for my family and hope they will be kept, treasured, and passed along in the family. Please share your finished quilts. We will all be waiting!!

Pics of small dress (reversible)- hand towel as per suggestion from Tartan.. cut 2 of dress tops from waist to waist, cutting oval hole for neck opening and I sewed lace around neckline - watch not to make the opening too small- measurement 8" across shoulder, under sleeve 6"across chest and 6.5 " length, I interfaced these, skirt is 11' Long, fold shirt as seen in pic and insert towel into bottom of dress top to make it reversible, top stitch dress to enclose skirt, place a button on each side of skirt and attach ribbons on each side of skirt on all four side - tie ribbons together on each side to hold onto stove handle. I would quilt the dress top and then match hand towel to quilted colors. All measurements include seam allowances. I used one hand towel for each stove hand towel I made. These make nice gifts.
